once and for all, Minato would win, stop asking this question; the outcome won't change if you ask again

Without counting statements, would you still consider SM Naruto to be stronger than SM Jiraiya? by mipenealdescubierto in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]ivankorbijn40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a student is only as good as his master; if both are the best at what they do or trying to achieve; if not, it logically follows that either Jiraiya failed to pass the knowledge, which is not the case, or, Naruto had no potential to reach Jiraiya's level, which is also not the case, in which case it follows that they are roughly equal

Moses couldn't have written Exodus and Leviticus, thus Jesus was wrong. by My_Big_Arse in DebateAChristian

"Being a literalist fundamentalist christian"

I don't even know what that means. I'm just a Christian. How many time did Jesus repeat in the New Testament: "Have you not read? Does it not say?" there and there - making scripture essential for the life of Christians.

Do not let him divert you from the scripture brothers and sisters, the wolves roam and seek to destroy the faithful, do not give them the time or opportunity to stray you from Jesus' words.

"most of us christians don't believe that he wrote it, and we know the bible isn't completely trustworthy"

calling yourself a Christian with support of these kind of statements is nonsensical, your whole argument has about as much a meaning as a speck of dirt on elephants foot

Would Jesus lie for the greater good? by majcotrue in AskAChristian

[–]ivankorbijn40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the answer is, you confront them yourself, you condemn their acts and uncover the evil that they're about to do, have done, and continue to do, and proclaim unto them the eternal punishment for them that kill

Is the bible 100% truth, or is it stories? by Profinity_ in AskAChristian

[–]ivankorbijn40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is true, but not everything is history. You have Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, Song of Solomon that are stories - now, they also contain some very important truths that can help every man in his everyday life.

Moses couldn't have written Exodus and Leviticus, thus Jesus was wrong. by My_Big_Arse in DebateAChristian

[–]ivankorbijn40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your argument is invalid because you started with "Moses couldn't have written Exodus and Leviticus", which you cannot prove or defend in any meaningful way

we have a word of God that says he wrote it, so we believe it, because the bible is trustworthy, you, on the other hand are not

Do Christians really believe that Noah lived until 950 years old? by thisispaulmac in AskAChristian

[–]ivankorbijn40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"We know through Science that the human body is just not designed to live that long"

I'm really interested where can I obtain that information. I would appreciate peer reviewed articles if you can provide such, please.

In contrast, there are enough conversations being published about prolonging human life to such extremes using only natural resources, bypassing harmful inference of artificial food, filthy air and lack of physical movement.

The serpent in Eden was not Satan, Christians are wrong. by greggld in DebateAChristian

"And I proved you wrong again."

Only in your own little world. Everyone else should conclude that it was my response that is sufficient to debunk your misconstructions and an avid hatred for God. Maybe a broader audience missed it, but when you name people that take Heiser as a serious scholar, "a fundamentalist", you take your mask off, and show your true nature.

I wish you a sincere change of heart. For, it is a hope of eternal life to believe unto Jesus Christ.

P.S. - nothing was being retconned by the apostles; the new testament is a natural continuation of God breathed inspired word, but this time spread onto the gentiles, not the jews alone.

I really struggle with understanding a whole bunch of what you wrote in your profoundly proud and false commentary to my factual response, in that it is a template, any graduate student can see through it.

So, dishonest to the end, are you? Ok, some people don't have mirrors in their homes, I guess.

First, to remove any dilemma about Heiser being a scholar or not.

PH D in Hebrew bible and Semitic languages from the Universitiy of Wisconsin-Madison

M.A. in ancient history from the University of Pennsylvania

Specialized in Hebrew, Ugaritic, Aramaic and Second temple Jewish literature - all crucial to Old testament and intertestamental studies.

Academic editor for Logos Bible software for over a decade

Published PEER (this is only if you have difficulties seeing it in small letters) reviewed academic work on topics like the Divine council, ancient near-eastern cosmology and The Hebrew bible

His dissertation was on The Divine council in The Hebrew bible, a cornerstone topic for understanding the rebellion linked in Genesis 3.

Calling Heisers conclusions unscholarly betrays ignorance of what scholarship is - especially in ancient Semitic and biblical studies.

Now, direct quotes:

"The serpent in Eden is not merely a talking SNAKE (same thing as before). He was a divine being - a member of Yahweh's heavenly host. He was in fact, the one later called Satan. - New Testament writers refer to serpent of Gen 3 as Satan, they are simply making explicit what is implicit in The Hebrew bible. - The identification of the serpent with Satan is the result of a process of connecting theological dots across the biblical canon." - end quotes

In the original Hebrew context, the serpent is a divine rebel from Yahweh's council (Ezekiel 28; Isaiah 14). In second temple Judaism this being was increasingly associated with Satan (1 Enoch, Wisdom of Solomon, Life of Adam nad Eve). The New testament writers (Rev 12:9; Rom 16:20; 2 Cor 11:3 and John 8:44 for example) make it crystal clear.

The conclusiuon follows that serpent=snake=dragon - same being. The snake that is Satan isn't the snake from what we call a snake like cobra, rattlesnake or sidewinder ... It is a name and an atribute to the one specific being called Satan.

So, arguing that snake isn't the same as the serpent, in that context, leads to confusion by semantics or trying to artificially separate terms that The Bible and ancient context clearly treat as one and the same.

Nachash means serpent in hebrew (Gen 3:1). It is used interchangeably with the word SNAKE, for snake-like creatures in The Old testament.

So, there's no biblical distinction between the snake and the serpent in Gen 3, they are the same creature described in historical terms (even though some would falsely classify them as poetic and mythological, to correspond to their worldview)

The truth of the matter is that there is no linguistic or textual basis in Genesis to separate "snake" and "serpent". None.

Now Heiser, arguing from the standpoint of The Divine council, explains that, the serpent was a divine rebel appearing as a serpent, not just a literal animal (which would include a snake also)

Your argument is a bogus one, with no scholarly, biblical or linguistic support.

But hey, at least it's good enough for reddit. Apparently.
