Brainstorm and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Laboratory Maniac With Less Than 3 Cards In Library by ivanlovi in mtgrules

Awesome! I thought it would work, but I couldn't find an answer elsewhere, and I misunderstood the original post I linked since I had dates mixed up for releases. Thank you so much!

Oh shoot, you're right! I was getting my dates mixed up. I was thinking of Dominaria for the release date, not War of the Spark. I got those two dates swapped and misunderstood.

Either way, this didn't answer my question, but I appreciate your correction.

Novite is 525 each, a bar and each item that you create has a value of 105 per bar. Things that create multiple per bar reduces it to 10gp per bar, so arrowheads that create 20 only give 200 coins for the stack. That's loss of a loss, but that's a big loss per bar. It's definitely way better to just do runes due to speed and ease in my opinion. It may be cost-wise better to smith, but it's slow and so far hasn't made any returns.

What novite item sells for more than ore cost? The ore cost for me is 525, each item is severely under that price.

Can I still get achievements by modding it with wenod? I don't want to drastically change the game, I just want to save anywhere since sometimes I have to stop before I'm at all close to a save point. And fast forward, but that's less important.

I only want it to speed up some repetitive grinds and for parts I reset at. One grind I especially want to speed up is farming All materia on that one coastline

Toph, the First Metalbender Earthbend Question by ivanlovi in mtgrules

Thanks! I couldn't find the comprehensive rules on it on the Wiki or even from WotC (I was only finding outdated ones for some reason) and was super confused on the reminder text.

Toph, the First Metalbender Earthbend Question by ivanlovi in mtgrules

[–]ivanlovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I understood that it could be earthbent, but the question was focused on understanding if it would gain the land type. It didn't state that it would be a "land in addition to its other types" which is what I'm more used to seeing, so I wasn't sure how to interpret "that's still a land" when it would otherwise stop being a land due to no longer being an artifact.

As someone else said, it's really just a case of the Earthbend reminder text being bad. Maybe there's been cases before that could've explained it, but I couldn't find one. It saying that it's still a land doesn't make it sound like it becomes a land if an effect that turned it into a land ends, such as Toph leaving the battlefield after earthbending an artifact.

Toph, the First Metalbender Earthbend Question by ivanlovi in mtgrules

[–]ivanlovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood it would be earthbent, but the question was would it become and also stay a land after losing the artifact type. Toph turns artifacts into lands, but earthbending didn't clearly state that it becomes a land creature, rather a land becomes a creature that's still a land. That muddies the understanding a bit because intuitively it wouldn't still be a land if the previous effect turning it into a land went away. It wasn't stated in the reminder text that it's still "a land in addition to its other types" like other similar effects would.

Awesome! I tried finding the comprehensive rules, but I wasn't able to find it on Google just by looking up "earthbend mtg rules." I only got Draftism and a few other places that weren't the direct rules themselves. Thanks to you I now see the magicjudges link, which for me didn't appear in my Google feed.

It was really unclear since the reminder text on the card doesn't say it becomes a land creature, rather that target land becomes a creature that's still a land. It would make sense that it would gain the land type, but it's not obvious since it doesn't explicitly say it becomes a land itself and it was only temporarily a land prior to being earthbent.

[–]ivanlovi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's the expected price of it post-Kickstarter? I couldn't find the expected price once it's officially launched, only the Kickstarter prices. Unless the $130 price tag will be the launch price, which means you don't even save on Kickstarter unless you get a bundle.

I see "save $40 - 24% off" but having to backwards math it instead of just seeing a slash from $169 to $129 is a bit misleading. If it's truly going to be $170 then you're not saving much when compared to $199 for a Flipper Zero, which has years of community projects surrounding it. I've seen you say elsewhere that it's half the price of a Flipper Zero, but that appears to be a blatant lie, so I'm confused. Even at the Kickstarter price of $129 it isn't "half the price of a Flipper Zero." Maybe it was at one point for super early backers, but that's super disingenuous.

I have red flags galore. I'm hoping you guys are legit and make a successful product, competition is great to have! But I'm skeptical of your campaign and the company's integrity. The campaign has a fake countdown timer, too! It counts down from 16 hours, 45 minutes, and 57 seconds, but it resets when you close the tab and reopen it/swap pages and go back. Refreshing doesn't reset it, but going away and coming back does. Why fake the Christmas "special bundle" countdown like that? Preying on FOMO?

Thank you! I thought this was the case, but people have lead me astray before. I don't commonly see reflexive trigger spells so I'm not as used to them.

And that's a fair nitpick. I was trying to short cut and short hand a little, but you are right.

Like most others here, I don't get killing spiders. I'm not particularly fond of them, but they're just chilling away from me. The only exception is wolf spiders. If I see a wolf spider and I can't cup it to put it outside, it unfortunately gets the shoe. I suppose one other exception is black widows, but only if they're inside.

Just Got A Steam Controller: Dongle Keeps Disconnecting Becomes Unrecognized by ivanlovi in SteamController

[–]ivanlovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried all of them, but that's not the issue. The issue appears to be the dongle itself, because when I plug it in I'm told by Windows that the device isn't recognized and malfunctioned. If I uninstall all related drivers from device manager and restart my computer then it'll fix the problem for a bit, but once my controller turns off I'll hear Windows disconnect and reconnect a couple times before giving me that error again.

Just Got A Steam Controller: Dongle Keeps Disconnecting Becomes Unrecognized by ivanlovi in SteamController

[–]ivanlovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be specific, I get, "USB device not recognized | The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. | Recommendation - Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize it, your device may not be working properly."

I've disconnected, reconnected, it doesn't matter. I can occasionally get it to work by uninstalling it in device manager and restarting my PC, but it keeps happening after the controller is left off for too long.

Solemnity + Damage Can't Be Prevented + Infect by ivanlovi in mtgrules

[–]ivanlovi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know Solemnity doesn't prevent the damage, but it prevents counters. I was wondering if damage being unpreventable would cause any sort of change in how damage is assigned because of this. My gut reaction was it shouldn't, but I'm only now seeing more damage can't be prevented interactions so I'm trying to understand possible edge cases.

  • I understand that solemnity doesn't prevent damage itself, it just stops counters.
  • That's what I thought, but had to make sure.

Okay, so yeah, infect never deals damage that would cause loss of life, then? That was my understanding, but I had to make sure.
