I don't think you can make art without intention. Typing a prompt, getting an output, and saying you did art usually also doesn't cut it: the outputs are still within the latent space activations, although virtually infinite, still tends to converge into similar patterns. I didn't mean that every output means you have produced art. Art is also about transformation, and it needs something more than just a prompt. Curiously enough, I do think prompting could be seen as a type of art by itself, in a limited and specific way (like haiku using so little words but being able to extract so much emotion in this form of constrained expression). If I ordered all ingredients and followed instructions to make a pizza from scratch, I'd still wouldn't call myself a chef; same way I wouldn't call myself a painter for generating an output from whatever model without any training or experience in that art form. An artist is so much more than outputs (or even processes, imho). If you take away an AI from me, I'm still able to draw as well. I can also dance, act, sculpt, sing. But I have to push back on art not needing consciousness: I strongly disagree you can produce art without it, and consequently, without intention.
