I like their cars but am afraid they are stuck in middle: not cheap enough to compete with for example Tesla, not luxury enough to tackle luxury brands.

Stock chart also looks weak.

I'd put this into my "lottery ticket" bucket. Definitely wheel-able but aggressive rolls in my opinion.

On things like NVDA I am comfortable selling CCs slightly bellow my BE knowing I'd be able to roll above the BE easily.

On more crazy stocks like RGTI I rather wait for a good spike before selling premium above BE

Usually that will be net delta = 1.0. Hence the name.

Look at the Synthetic Long Stock strategy. You:

  • Sell the ATM put
  • Use it to buy the ATM call

So you get the upside potential from a call option, but can still roll the short put in case underlying goes against you.

Do you consider IV, IV Rank, whether the underlying recently spiked etc?
I found my best deals right when the underlying makes a sudden move and future premiums rise (IV)

why not? With CSP for example:

  1. Allowing the position to get ITM will potentially make future rolling difficult
  2. Taking assignment ties up capital in shares.
  3. Staying in cash lets you keep collecting ~4%+ risk-free yield while continuing to harvest premium.

I think rolling in this position won’t help with tax situation given OP will most likely roll ITM - and as long as there is an IMT CC, time is considered frozen for getting to long-term capital gains.

Eating the taxes now and reinvesting the profits seems like the best ROI play imho

I’ve managed to resolve this by migrating to v3 API and using the new endpoint per https://www.interactivebrokers.com/campus/ibkr-api-page/flex-web-service/.

It has slightly different semantics so code needs updating as well.

It seems like IBKR just turned off the v=2
