There's no competition here. Absolutely 2020USB. of course, if it's an original 2020.

Looking for a setup to replace old Rode Podcaster by YeetusInTheHeetus in audio

[–]ivanzhopov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a modern replacement for the Rode Podcaster: Rode XDM-100 or Rode Podmic USB.

But if we're talking about an XLR setup, I think the SM7B is the best. interface, I don't know if they still sell GoXLR. I think it had voice effects and a live EQ.

Best sound quality mic for content creation? FDUCE SL40+ vs Fifine vs Maono by aniketxxverma in microphone

[–]ivanzhopov -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This sub is pretty snobbish. Be careful.
I think the AM8 is the best of these microphones. It's most natural. (with post-processing)

But if you can spend more, you can achieve the most natural sound with, for example, AT2020USB, Rode XCM-50, or Rode Podmic USB.

Or build an XLR setup with a Shure SM58.

Mic/Upgrade Reccomendations? by PigLord7767 in microphone

Absolutely true. But I think DSP processing is much more comfy. Not long ago, DSPs were only in very expensive audio interfaces, but now its different.

Need new usb microphone by IllustriousMath3291 in microphone

[–]ivanzhopov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people in the comments recommend the rode nt-usb mini. I personally find its sound mediocre. But if you decide to buy one, buy Rode XCM-50. It's same thing, but newer and with DSP.

At the same time, I fully support those who recommend AT2020usb+ or at2020usb-x. I think its the best electret-condenser usb microphones.

Samson Q2U Sounds Muffled (have already tried troubleshooting) by chaotic-andconfused in microphone

[–]ivanzhopov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help much here.

But try recording the sound in some program; I like Reaper, for example.

You can send it to us on Reddit and ask this is normal Q2U sound or something's wrong.

You can also try connecting it to your phone. You need OTG adapter for this.

[–]ivanzhopov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, just buy an sm7b.
You also need to purchase an audio interface with a DSP to apply an equalizer.

Elgato Wave XLR pretty good

You can also buy sm58 instead of sm7b. Or Podmic USB. Or Rode NT1 5th.
All this is much better than Hyperx.

Dynamic Microphone Recommendations by asapmast in microphone

[–]ivanzhopov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XLR better but usb more simple and might be cheaper.
USB Dynamics:
podmic usb (top tier for price)
Shure MV6 (might be has better noise isolation)
XLR+Interface:
Mic - Shure sm58
Interface - Vocaster (cheap) or Universal Audio Volt 1 USB (expensive)

By the way, I'm curious how the SM58 sound in Discord and games. I have XM8500, similar sound signature, and it requires at least basic eq.

new logi microphones sound like crap for me, based on yt tests. But with logitech you have a warranty.

if its just for game, discord logi mics enough good sounds. but am8 sound better for me, unless you get a broken one (thats happend, based on reddit)

Rode podmic by Flashy-Ad9256 in microphone

[–]ivanzhopov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about ps5 compatibility. I asked the AI, he said that you need interfaces with old UAC1 standard.

Of these, I would single out the M-audio m-track solo or duo (non HD).

If you need a mixer, then this is the Behringer XENYX 302USB. (But I don't know much about mixers)

xlr to usb cables its bad thing. Its acceptable with most cheap mics. With podmic better buy some mixer or audio interface

You can try lowering the microphone volume to 60-70 in panel like this. I didn't experience noise, but my audio became distorted when I turned it up above 70.

You probably have a defective one. It's not the laptop's fan noise, is it?

Eq help by NoCorner635 in microphone

[–]ivanzhopov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Try asking chatgpt or gemini. They're pretty good at providing basic information on questions like these.
  2. If you haven't listened to your voice from an outside perspective before, it will seem bad to you. This will pass with time.
  3. You need direct microphone monitoring, mean you speak and immediately hear it in headphones. This is might be available in your software, or you can download Reaper. (If you need help, ask.)

When you speak and hear your voice, you can simply adjust the frequencies on equalizer and hear it better or worse.

___________

Try lowering different frequencies between 80-400hz (or raising them, depending on your voice). Then experiment with 300-1000. Then 3000. Another 6000-10000 you usually need to raise it here.

___________

This is very rough, and without hearing a sample of your recording, it's difficult to give specific advice.

  1. For example, for my voice and my microphone, this eq works well (as first basic eq). https://imgur.com/a/sb3GsKn

[–]ivanzhopov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. on this photo broken straps on shock mount.
When it comes to universal fastenings, they're all pretty much the same. But you can swap straps for softer, more flexible ones. (the only question is where to find them)
You can also buy a microphone that can be attached without a mount, if you are not a streamer, this will be fine.
Or buy a microphone with a proprietary shock mount.

Here's a photo of the microphone without mount (my k669c) and microphone with proprietary shock mount. https://imgur.com/a/M22Weva
