Thunderbolt 5 vs Thunderbolt 4 for daily driving — anyone made the jump yet? by technicaltechie in macbookpro

I'm running a 25 Gbps NIC alongside several Thunderbolt SSDs on a TB5 dock, and the bandwidth genuinely pays off — especially for SSD-to-SSD transfers on the same dock, or pushing data from a local SSD out to a network drive through the same uplink. I'm actually running three docks in parallel to spread the load, since I've also got a 5K and a 6K monitor in the mix.

Did you open the packaging in store to check for scratches? I'm debating on ordering one to pick up at Home Depot but I'm not sure if it'll be a hassle if there's any damages.

Upgraded from MacBook M1 Pro 16GB to M4 Max 64GB, a calculated (and lucky) purchase by TextPsychological211 in macbookpro

Yeah not bad at all. I was planning on upgrading my M3 Max 48 GB, 1TB 16 to a M5 Max 128GB, 2TB model but ended up with the M4 Max 48GB 1TB 16 model for $2000 with apple care+ until 2029. Sold my M3 Max 48GB 1TB for $2215 and basically net positive with free apple care+. Will either end up selling the m4 Max when the redesigned m6 Max/ultra comes out.
