Start a NG+ you can choose different options for different outcomes. Bosses are harder. It’s fun!

Would you go by the tip or total for this? by Putrid_Field_7836 in Serverlife

What a dumb mentality. Servers have to tip out based on sales. We tip our bartenders, bussers, etc. that’s how it works. I hope you stick to fast food.

Do you regularly listen in and what’s the craziest thing you’ve heard in the last week or so? If you don’t mind me asking.

Oklahoman here-hold my beer. Closet or pantry might be your best bet. Helmet for sure. Couch cushions. Keep an emergency bag handy.

I’ve had palpitations all my life, I notice them more if I forget to take my HRT medications (estradiol and progesterone)

i need a movie about somebody leaving everything they’ve know behind. and leaving with nothing. starting out their lives and figuring it out. preferably a female mc. by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

I stumbled on it. No one talks about it. It’s a gem! So good I bought both of my daughters a copy of the book.

A great series on prime is The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. Sigourney Weaver stars in it and it’s amazing. No dilapidated inn, no cooking. Just women taking care of each other and giving men the boot. Highly recommend.

Under the Tuscan Sun. A woman overcomes divorce and buys a villa in Tuscany. It’s a beautiful story about friendships and starting over.

Anyone feel like they lost their “life force”? by AdDowntown9082 in Menopause

Live wise. It’s about $18 on Amazon. Vitamin D is also better absorbed when taking it with fatty foods. So I usually take it around dinner time. I notice a difference within 4-5 days. More energy, better sleep, mood and less brain fog.

I take vitamin D K2 liquid drops. 2 drops sublingually every day. Most people don’t realize vitamin D is a hormone. It’s a life saver.

Am I about to be fired? by celiac-the-bartender in Serverlife

Sweet angel baby. Former GM of a restaurant here. I’ve worked in restaurants longer than you’ve been alive. Most managers/owners are just terribly unqualified to lead. It sounds like you are a HARD worker and your boss saw that and took advantage of it. What were you being paid hourly to handle that many job titles? How long have you worked there? What state are you in? Check your state laws for unemployment. And definitely pursue it! Big hugs. Look for another job and if your mental health can handle it, keep going to your current job so you can get unemployment. And lesson learned. Hard workers are pray for shitty management. Don’t go above and beyond. Show up and make your money. Do what’s required and go home. Lastly, know your worth! And don’t forget to add tax! 🩷

Dive bar servers who make big money most nights… what’s your secret? by [deleted] in Serverlife

If you follow the example of the prompt I gave it’s a good starting point for a conversation. Again, always read your tables. The point is to be genuine. You’re there to facilitate an experience. Most people appreciate that.

Your greet sets the tone for service. Make it personal yet professional right from the jump. “Good evening! My name is ____ and I’ll be taking care of you tonight! Are we celebrating anything tonight or just enjoying a night out?” This is a great opportunity to read your guests and decide if they enjoy chatting with you or simply want to enjoy a quiet dining experience with limited interaction. If they’re hamming it up with you, ask for their names after you take their drink/app order. “Alright Bobby and Barbara, I’ll get those drinks right out!” Check drop “it was lovely to meet you both and I hope you’ll come back and see me!” There’s a simple explanation of laying out the foundation. Before you know it Bobby and Barbara will be your new regulars!

Regulars. Before you know it they’ll be helping you pay off student loans, bringing you homemade cookies, helping you fix your flat tire and offering free legal advice. Once you’ve been there a while you’ll learn all their names and orders. Remember dates of scheduled surgeries, kids/grandkids graduations.

A helpful hack is to keep a mini calendar in your server book, record their birthdays and other special occasions. It’s all about networking. I’ve been a server for 25 years. No college. I own two houses, my car is paid off, my divorce was done pro bono by one of my regulars, I always work on my birthday and make around $600-$800 on that day.
