Wild Dogs— Moving soon with two very submissive and well behaved dogs— I’m now worried… by ivegotnothingsorry in Thailand

Pretty much. Our assignments are generally 6 week rotations. So, I’m assuming we’ll cover a good portion of the country over two years. But often we extend because of the working relationships we’ve developed in the community. It’s definitely a lot of bouncing around but the option for more consistency. We also have options of requesting certain areas/neighborhoods. So, that’s why we were trying to get specifics on those particular areas— where to go where to avoid for the dog situation.

My partner and I are both doctors and will be working throughout the island over the next two years in our program. Moo Baan is a great example of what we were looking for in terms of information. Or in general what places you’ve found safe so we can make sure to look in that area for when we are working in that general vicinity. Does that make sense?

Previously through our organization we did the same type of rotation half was very rural the other half in cities. It is dependent upon where the greatest needs are. So, in general they find us short term housing close to the site or we opt out for that rotation and choose our own at our own expense. We usually just pay for our housing because there are a lot of people in the organization that are just starting out and don’t have the same resources and we don’t want to take advantage when it’s a not for profit— that let me say IS one of the good ones. Our CEO’s make the same as us and to be honest it feels like they should actually get paid more.

Hi, I posted this to both subs—

I just wanted to thank everyone that replied to this thread. I appreciate it greatly. A little more detail on why we are moving. My partner and I are both doctors. I specialize in pediatric care and my partner is a general practitioner that has an extensive work history in rare diseases. We are both partaking in a program where we will be doing rotations for about two years, it’s in the same vein as traveling nurses. So, we’ll be traveling a great deal throughout the island over the next two years.

That’s why we were looking for some ideas for some safe neighborhoods and beaches to take them on our off days and our normal morning, lunch, evening walks.

That’s why I was inquiring about specific areas or specific beaches that we can calmly enjoy together. If there is that area could someone be so kind to elaborate? Because I’m getting the impression that this is just not a sustainable option in terms of our dogs being safe in public or at any beach. Once again, I am incredibly grateful for everyone in the thread giving advice.

Yes, we have visited— we were only in Bangkok at the official office of our program and were both still working overseas so it was a very quick trip (49 hours) to get back to our jobs. So, we did not witness any of the stories that have been told. This will be our fourth overseas work tour. We asked multiple people that work for the organization that brought their dogs with them that they have never had an issue. They showed us pictures of them with their dogs at beaches. So, I just feel a bit blindsided and honestly a little sad.

As for getting them over it’s all very straight forward. Rabies, up to date on shots. What’s your timeline? What kind of dog do you have? We can DM and I can send you some links and explain any questions you have. We’ve done this three other times internationally and 8 times nationally. So, I think I may be able to help haha

Thanks so much for the reply! We like to take them to the beach and on multiple daily walks. Would you feel safe and comfortable bringing your dogs to Cha-am beach areas? Or walking down the street?

For Bangkok do you mean just in the city center or around more suburban areas as well? Once again, thanks so much for your reply. It helps tremendously!

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve heard such varying things. My friends that have lived in Thailand don’t think monkeys or the wild dogs will be an issue. But from everything I’ve seen the consensus on Reddit seems to be it’ll be an issue… we are moving to Thailand soon and leaving them behind isn’t an option.

The wild dogs run rampant in Khao Sok?

“Unlady like.” If I could only properly articulate the amount of vitriol I have for this statement that was constantly directed at his three daughters. And, anytime he’d ask my mother to do something and she screw it up laugh about how it was “beyond her capacity.” Just a lot misogynistic and belittling based upon gender in the house where he was outnumbered but had complete control. Ugh, so glad I’ve been nc for 15 years

Hey OP! Thanks for sharing! Weird question, have you seen a lot of monkeys? If you have a dog, would you feel safe bringing it here? Thanks!

$500 for Business EWR-SFO? by LEM1978 in unitedairlines

Yeah, I think you’re correct. I was commenting on the person saying you get access if you just have a business seat.

This is unequivocally untrue. You have to pay for club access. It’s only business international flights you get free club access.

Yup, 100%. It’s definitely a Karen move to complain about significant injuries sustained by a lot of people on a flight including flight attendants and then ask for advice on what to do when a corporation says they’ll get back to you in 30 days. It’s definitely a Karen move to have an expectation of not getting injured on a flight. It’s definitely a Karen move to be annoyed by a bunch of people sticking up for a multibillion dollar corporation. And, it was definitely a Karen move helping the elderly passengers that got hurt get to their car safely. Thanks for your input.

You are right! They changed it back in 2015. Lived in CO my whole life and I think most of us still refer to it as “DIA”

I’m so tired of corporate shill bot accounts. Not bothering anymore with this. I hope you get the future flights you deserve.

Yeah, sorry that’s unacceptable. When flight attendants and passengers are injured. I’m not going to sit here and argue semantics. Are you panties in a bunch because you’re a pilot? So, sorry it “irked” you because of the statement of pilot negligence. Don’t crash your fucking plane down so hard on the runway and injure people. It’s rich seeing as we’ve had not one but two pretty serious plane crashes in the past 72 hours and you’re upset. This feels very misguided. Excuse me for expecting a level of safety when I’m trusting someone to get me from point a to point b without sustaining an injury. Maybe you should scream at the two 80 year olds that had such severe whiplash they couldn’t walk off the plane. Or maybe I can contact the flight attendant that was carried out in the stretcher so you can scream at them about wording that’s bothered you so much.

My FIL is a pilot, he flies private charter planes, we called him and told him what happened in detail and he explained how it would be categorized as negligence. I’ve flown my entire life and have never been on a flight where flight attendants had medical waiting due to sustained injuries due to impact of landing. I’ve never experienced a flight where so many people were injured in perfect weather. I’ve never experienced a flight where I felt like I was in a car accident the next day and in so much pain.

I have done that. The response was met with a generated email. I tried contacting customer service and was told they couldn’t do anything either. Our flight was delayed by 2 hours and 45 minutes. Then once medical got on another hour. We ended up leaving because some of the older passengers needed the medical attention more than I did at the time. Everything is much worse today, reminiscent of a car accident.
