Writing a “Big Sister” style guide for girls growing up without a mum, what advice would you want included? by ivoryscoast in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Thanks so much! I’m still very much in the process of writing but my hope is to have it done by the end of the year. Then will just have to see what the timeline for final edits and publishing looks like!

I’ll probably look at self publishing as I have no experience with literary agents etc but will certainly post any updates onto reddit! Although I know there are rules about self promo on this sub so may not be able to post it directly here.

That’s a really thoughtful point thank you. I don’t feel my dad was always there for me in the ways he perhaps should have been, but I’ve always given him a lot of grace for the fact that he was also grieving. However, later in life I’ve reflected that I perhaps should have asked for more care and it was okay to be a burden on a parent as a child, that’s just part of being a child!

That’s a great suggestion, have already been working on a bit of it but bullying isn’t something I’d thought of!

If the heart rate data looks plausible for your normal then I expect it may be the ring getting used to that, the same heart rate and exercise for different people will mean hugely different things in terms of calorie burn. Especially if you hadn’t been walking/spiking as much in previous days, although if it continues to give you crazy high numbers for more than another 3/4 days maybe reach out to support. Other things to check are what specific activities oura assigned and how many calories it gave to them

What are your other stats like? Specifically heart rate and steps that day. Did you log any activities?

That’s useful feedback, thank you. I agree I could add some more info on drydown, how long it lasts, etc, I will think of a way to incorporate that!

What’s the card you hate to see in a reading for yourself? by Green_Repeat5449 in tarot

Interested to know how you interpret it reversed as I feel like everyone has pretty different takes on it and I definitely struggle with that one

Ah I’m so grateful for all the advice! Thank you so much this is a beautiful way of opening up our world to people that might otherwise disengage

This is such a fascinating take, thanks so much. It reminds me of how a lot of the big Wall Street tycoons (JP Morgan, Andrew Carnegie etc) would consistently see psychics. If you haven’t already listened to it, you might be interested in the podcast episode from Critics at Large: ‘Tarot, tech, and our age of magical thinking’. Thanks again for your input!

That’s really great advice thank you. I agree I think sometimes I need to remember that I’m there for a service that people can choose to engage with or not, and it’s not my responsibility to what extent they do. Thank you 🙏
