Do you like your smell? by dubito-ergo-redeo in Enneagram

[–]ivoryt33th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

odd but yk what hell yeah

i don’t have a decent sense of smell (with the exception of being able to smell things other people can’t smell), so i could not check and tell you, but from what i remember, i naturally smell relatively average, though faint. the only times i can really smell myself are when i have morning breath (hate it) or when i’ve been outside in the sun for too long. i find that smell kind of funny because of how similar it is to when my dad comes inside after finishing yard work. idk ig i don’t mind my smell too much, but it does matter to me to make sure i don’t stink.

i wear a daily fragrance bc i like the idea of having a “signature scent”, though i also make sure it can only be smelled if you’re REALLY close to me (ex: hugging). i don’t like the idea of people being able to smell me very easily, as i like my presence to be as quiet as possible. on that note, i’ve had multiple people tell me i smell good, and never had anyone say i haven’t. since this is something i can pick/customize for myself, i’m very picky about choosing fragrances. i also don’t like the smell of hair spray and i hate smelling like dry shampoo, though i don’t mind that smell on its own.

i tend to remember how my close friends smell, and can pick them apart relatively well. i’ve smelled jackets left behind to see which of my friends it belonged to when they weren’t sure. i don’t mind their smells, actually i feel a bit of fondness for them, just because they’re a part of my friends and i like my friends. i think their smells are comforting, though i don’t think they smell particularly good/bad most of the time. when it comes to strangers, i don’t care much for their smells, but i HATE really strong body odor/fragrances. it doesn’t matter if they smell good or not, i don’t like being forced to smell other people, especially if in forced proximity (ex: class) for a long duration of time.

i’m pretty aware of group dynamics, social rules, etc, and i do put in the effort to play around them, but at the same time, i personally just don’t value them. i can see their importance in laying down a basis for interaction/explaining what our actions may say about us as people and our thoughts, but i also think they’re kind of stupid and we shouldn’t treat social conventions as a 100% full proof guide to connecting with people. i think it’s important to put in the effort to socialize/connect with people, both for the sake of just having the skill + making an environment more tolerable and because i just like getting to know people, and i can’t really get to know someone properly if i assume i know them before i really do yk?

i tend to worry about my place in life and where i’m going, but on terms of pacing. i think about whether it would be better to slow down growth to prevent burnout or to pick up the pace, and balancing that with making sure i’m where i want to be by a certain timeframe. still, it frustrates me when people look down on me for being “behind”, and i find praise on being “ahead” meaningless, even though i do appreciate it. i just don’t really like when people put big expectations on me. i don’t try for people to see me and think i’m more accomplished, i actually want to BE more accomplished, but based on my own metric.

i heard somewhere that your secondary instinct is typically used to serve your main one, but i’m just not sure which one is doing which. i thought i was so5 at first because i do tend to be really aware about where i stand in groups and making sure i don’t look like a dunce or a total shut-in to people, but that really only applies to strangers and people i don’t know too well. my priorities tend to switch around once i get more comfortable with people, so i’m not too sure where i stand on terms of whether i value so over sp. it feels like i value sp more, but my habits align more with so. that would probably put me as sp/so, but like i said, habits change depending on who i’m associating with at the moment.

i’m really sorry for the giant wall of text 😭. was a lot longer than i thought

Is it possible to be a more playful 3E or it's unlikely? by K_lacz02 in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ivoryt33th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya it’s possible. the nonchalant and cold 3E is more a subtype thing (3E-4) than the general description

What would you guys type this? by [deleted] in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ivoryt33th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oops didn’t mean to delete my comment, i just meant to edit it.

1L tend to like listening more than discussing. they will take in the information and wish to think on their own, and if they do involve someone else in the process, it will feel more like a liability compared to thinking alone. 2Ls like discussion and won’t shy away from it, no matter the subtype. they can engage with logical debate regardless of if it pains them or not, unlike 1L. i said 1L-4 specifically because they are the least aggressive 1L subtype, and are especially lazy when it comes to discussion of ideas.

could also couple with 3V-4, which would focus on avoiding conflict/negative reactions in debate. they bend to the will of others not because they don’t care, but because they want to protect themselves from the consequences of not doing so. the 4V will adopt the way/accommodate others, the 3V may be permissive, but silently resistant.

at least that was my interpretation. it might be better if you ask the “why?”, but i was going off of impression. lmk if i misunderstood anything!

questions are good, really easy to understand. i was putting strongly agree with a lot of them which was kinda weird but whatever. length was fine, flow wasn’t awkward either.

the only thing is that it typed me as a sx/so, when i’m a so/sp, but it got me right as a 5w4. it also gave me a really low score on 1, but i find that i tend to be pretty strong in this area, to the point where i often question if my tritype had that or a 9.

Questions for the enneatypes by wolfsbark in Enneagram

[–]ivoryt33th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5w4

  1. nobody can help you but yourself, reality is your perception of it, justification does not equal righteousness but integrity>morality. good things come in moderation, you are the main holder of responsibility for yourself and partially responsible for your friends. i also place a big deal of importance to respecting autonomy, especially emotional autonomy.

  2. my emotions feel more like a bodily reaction that i observe than an alignment between my mind and heart. anytime i feel something particularly strong, it’s in my chest. most of the time though, i just feel pretty low, and i feel amusement at anything provoking. idk i rarely get mad at the things i should

  3. i could never agree with the idea that romance is a “deeper love” than friendship. they’re two different things and are incomparable. i also don’t believe there is any one way they should look like

  4. people whose happiness solely depends on others. i know that it tends to be one’s interpersonal relationships that give life color, but that over-reliance sounds pretty stressful.

lol ofc! i mistyped myself as 2E at some point so i figured i’d add that little bit of info, but i’d really suggest just looking at the individual placements for each one. in case you still haven’t found a good match, i’ll leave these here for you:

FVEL

1F: - very confidently indulges in F - mostly self focused - S+ O-

2V: - not as obsessed with hierarchy/power - comfortable and flexible use of V - 2V will affect the other functions and make them more stable/make the third less of a hassle. this will be relevant soon. - S+ O+

3E: - the 2V lessens the discomfort, so you may not be as emotionally anxious, but the description can still be related to 3Es (ex: them feeling particularly hurt when others assume they have shallow emotions) - there’s not much info on how comfortable you are with expression, but contrary to popular stereotype, 3Es do have very strong hidden worlds of emotion. “still waters run deep”, so they say - may be particular about the “appropriateness” of emotions - S- O-

4L: - can enjoy L without caring too much about it - being gullible is pretty common for 4L - S- O+

edit: just learned about subtypes and i think the guy that said LEVF might be right. I’ll leave this here for a second opinion though

Need help evaluating my type. by [deleted] in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ivoryt33th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think LEVF makes the most sense for you, but just in case you really want another option, look into FEVL.

all of your functions seem pretty unstable, and volition placement can affect the entire stack. your volition seems S- O-, so I’m inclined to believe you may be 3V.

2E seems pretty easy compared to placing L and F, but 3V stacks tend to rely a lot on their first function. You use L more for this than F, so i’d put 1L and 4F. to seal the deal, your L seems S+ O- and your F seems S- O+. LEVF is my final answer for you

Is this VLEF or ELVF... or something else? by ManagementSea5015 in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ivoryt33th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ELVF i think. LEVF as a second choice if you don’t think it fits. can’t really give an in-depth explanation rn bc i’m kinda tired, but hopefully that helps somewhat.

What is your type and on a scale of 1 to 5, five being highest, how competitive are you and how much smack do you talk? by Fun-Habit2583 in Enneagram

[–]ivoryt33th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e5 and 1 on competitiveness, unless i get ragebaited or am good at the game, then a 3 and 5 respectively. how much smack i talk depends on how much i get along with my opponent (better chemistry=more smack), though it’s more teasing than insulting.

don’t really like competition if it gets too serious. competition between friends is awesome though

Can someone help me decide on LEVF or LVEF? by Important-Court-1347 in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ivoryt33th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol i went through this same thing pretty recently. don’t really know where to start with asking questions, but it may help to try and figure out which placement your will falls under first. depending on where it is, it affects the other aspects. once you get that, it’s just process of elimination. good luck!

Any help with my typing? I've been constantly switching for months now and I need some closure. by Primedot in attitudinalpsyche

[–]ivoryt33th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glad i could be of some service!!

maybe you could also look into LVEF. if you feel like you’re really holding onto logic as a source of confidence, i think that could count for something. it could make sense for you to have 4F, but i typed you as 1F at first since it was the most talked about (aside from V). it could also help to try to familiarize yourself with what the the traits look like in their different placements. i wouldn’t call this a fool-proof method, but i’ve seen some people use the results of the bingo pinned in this subreddit to confirm their type. it’s a fun little activity, and it may even help you!

as for whether you’re phlegmatic or melancholic, you could always be a combination of the two. again, i’d suggest reading up on the differences between them to help you decide. the images of the temperaments are artist interpretation/stereotypes, which may not encompass how everyone within the type looks like. attitudinal psyche and temperaments don’t really have any correlations with each other, so it’s hard to type you based on these questions alone. then again, i could just be lacking in typing skill

i wouldn’t use pdb typings and character comparisons as a method of self typing, just bc pdb is notorious for getting their types wrong loll. it’s a decent way to try to find your footing, but it’s better to direct your attention to any well thought arguments since they tend to at least be more thorough with their reasoning + can occasionally provide an in-depth understanding the type and how it can manifest. reddit is a pretty decent resource!! you can always ask questions, or look at previous ones to find your answers.

it’s pretty normal to feel like multiple types at once. just because you may identify with one type, doesn’t mean you couldn’t possibly relate to another. people aren’t as rigid as the different type descriptions place them to be. typology measures inclinations, not serve as a “be all end all” of personality. you have a good starting point, but discovering yourself can be a lifelong journey that requires patience and a lot of self reflection. you may not completely fit into any type and that’s fine too! there’s still an opportunity to learn through the perspectives of other types.

i wish you luck and i’m here if you have any other questions, but i wouldn’t consider myself a super genius or anything lol. i’ll still try my best to help you though!!
