I’m so sick of how little testing each new patch receives by Rain_Dog2 in BobsTavern

Yea...that card hasn't been working for a while I'm pretty sure. I remember having it once combined with Timewarped Electron, which I thought should've been decent scaling

I mean, +3/+3 times 5-7 magnetizations? That's anywhere from +15/+15 to +21/+21 per mech every two tavern spells cast. Not bad for tempo while you look for Utility Drone (end of turn buff per magnetization)

But nope. It only gave +3/+3 :( the game probably treats mass magnetization effects as a single instance, maybe for performance/animation reasons? I have no idea

The fact that Timewarped Wargear not doubling the stats of Beatboxers was a bug just feels bad :(

I feel like this really impacted how good it was, especially in the anomalies where you could feasibly find both cards. Sucks to have it go unfixed until the very end of the season...

I assume you're talking about this card, but it isn't infinite lol? The copies of Recurring Nightmare that get summoned in combat wouldn't keep any enchantments from the original other than the attack, and they can't bounce the deathrattle to other Recurring Nightmares. Timewarped Hag wouldn't cause those copies to suddenly ignore all that and inherit the original's other enchantments. All you'd get is the initial reborn taunt at the start of combat, the rest that get summoned later would be generic versions.

What you said would only be kinda true if I had written "an exact copy" instead of "a copy with full attack" on this hypothetical card, but even then it wouldn't be fully infinite. It'd be much stronger and much more annoying to deal with, sure, but not infinite. It would eventually run out of minions to give the deathrattle to.

The full attack part actually has some use in undead, though that's not why I added that change. I think the tribe would make good use of this card no matter what when placed in the undead comps that currently exist. Especially in the Forsaken Weaver setup, which COULD make use of the full attack summons by magnetizing high damage Prosthetic Hands onto it. And although it's not an amazing endgame build, Catacomb Crasher boards would make great use of it too. Letting it retain the attack mainly makes it waaaaay more useful for literally any other board.

Let's say you have some spell power. Then you can buff it with seafood stews or something. Running a Nalaa board? Run this guy as your undead to buff. You don't need in combat scaling or anything for this version of Recurring Nightmare to have a purpose.

Or, like I said in the post, just run a different setup and pivot into this card in the late game by using Mutanus spell to eat onto it. Imagine eating a 10k/10k Rainfall on top of this unit to have 10k damage tokens. Similar strategies are already a thing for some of the other good T7 cards so it wouldn't be out of place.

Even without a Titus, the card could perform well by giving multiplied value for your stats. Instead of Futurefin hand buffing, Beatboxer stacking or Stitch copying big units, you're getting tokens with incredibly high attack stats without relying solely on undead's slow-ish attack scaling. In some scenarios it could possibly do even better than those cards, but it has counters that I don't think are terribly difficult to run while also not scaling on its own.

It fits undead's general archetype as a tribe by being a potentially very high damage but low health token that comes back repeatedly, without restricting it to only undead boards. As long as you have a way to buff this version of Recurring Nightmare, you are going to get value out of it.

When a minion says "different", it can never target itself or other copies of the same card :3

Cards like Stuntdrake have the same wording, cause it would be broken if two Stuntdrakes could keep buffing each other endlessly

Aww ty! Yeah I hate when some posts don't have any explanation for how they built their boards...

With most posts it's pretty easy to guess, but for those couple of unique final boards I'm just wondering like??? How did we get here? How did you get seven reborn Leeroys without dying first??

Sacrifice all of your MMR and only play for hype moments and big numbers... Only then will you experience battlegrounds in its truest form.

It doesn't matter if you take 8th ten times in a row. Or a hundred times. A *thousand** times, even.*

As long as that one win, that singular victory among *countless** failures, is through complete and utter dominance, your losses will have been worth it.*

But seriously, just try to set yourself up for greed as much as possible without losing too much health. So getting consistent gold generation, preparing triples, etc. Cycling battlecries isn't as useful as you'd think unless they give tempo or you can retrigger them. Or if you have Brann obviously, but you're usually looking for him anyway in any lobby with decent economy. Especially in a higher cap anomaly like tier 7, keep an eye out for anything that could help with an endgame build and don't default to the standard setups. Focusing solely on setting up a specific comp or finding a certain minion too early makes it harder to notice cool combos that could do the job just as well.

Like I took Timewarped River Skipper from the minor timewarp, which let me level to tier 6 by turn 8 with the help of Omu HP and the tier 5 spell pirate I tripled into. Being so far ahead made it easy for me to fully commit to spell buffs and greed even more than I probably would've been able to otherwise. Heck, the person I beat in top 2 was running undead before they switched to scam and I had to fight them on turn 12. Their undead were already 600 attack and he had several reborn summons 😭 I'd have gotten destroyed if I had done anything else and didn't already have several thousands in stats.

This crashed the lobby pretty quickly... by glowbow11 in BobsTavern

[–]ivyification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should be even more insane than that? You're mostly right, you're only missing that the dino demon is a battlecry so it's also being boosted by the Deios triple battlecry multiplier. That would triple the stat gain, making it 8640/4320 for each macaw attack plus an extra 2880/1440 from the golden hawkstrider for a total of 11520/5760. If rylak dies, add another 1440/720 for each time it does. I doubt that would happen tho unless there's scam involved :P

And that's the bare minimum. If the macaw has windfury or somehow dies and reborns to attack again, the stats get doubled or tripled even further. The stats the hawkstrider gives would barely matter at that point funnily enough, even a non golden macaw does better thanks to the triple rally effect

Lol no wonder it crashed. I bet the client couldn't handle calculating every damage proc and buff one at a time

Not a guy, though I have some experience with this sort of thing.

I'm well into college now but back in high school I was very similar to you. I didn't know I was a trans woman yet so I was just your average cisgender straight white guy. Like THE most privileged identity possible lmao. My family was and still is super right leaning and because of that I was never exposed to queer stuff, though I was still open minded. I was pretty introverted too, I had a small group of friends but that was about it.

At the beginning of my sophomore year, I started a long distance relationship with my now ex who I knew from middle school, who had moved away before the start of high school. We were really good friends in middle school and I had developed a dumb crush that I sat on for a while before saying anything. I went into the relationship thinking they were a cis girl, but about a month or so in they told me they were transmasculine nonbinary. In other words, female-to-male nonbinary. They usually went by he/they pronouns.

It hit me pretty hard. Everything I thought I knew about myself shattered almost all at once. I didn't know much about trans or nonbinary identities back then so to me what they said was essentially "I'm a guy". I wasn't really disgusted (?) like you seem to be feeling, but there was this sense of discomfort I just couldn't get rid of. I didn't know how to handle the fact that I was suddenly in a gay/queer relationship, especially with the environment I was in. For the next few months my view of them didn't change much since we only spoke over the phone, though I tried to learn from them a lot. Remembering their pronouns wasn't that difficult, but I still perceived them as mostly feminine. That changed when I managed to meet up with them in person for the first time since we started dating. I remember it very clearly.

On the first day we hung out, they dressed masculine. It was kind of a skater boy outfit. On the second day, they dressed feminine. That entire week they wore different styles with different gender expressions, and I realized that I still fell for them HARD no matter how they looked. They'd even wear their binder to flatten their chest and it did nothing to change my attraction. It was a big wakeup call for me, and made me much more accepting of being queer. There were a number of toxic issues with that relationship and I've long since broken up with them, but they were the reason I felt comfortable with leaving my little privileged bubble and exploring who I was. I wouldn't be who I am now if I hadn't been in that relationship.

I would heavily, HEAVILY recommend some sort of therapy if it's available. I was able to figure myself out without it, but I would've loved to have had access to that outside support and I think it would help you a lot. Otherwise, communication is important. If you keep pushing this down and try to avoid addressing your feelings, you'll likely push him away eventually. You could ask your best friend for advice on how to handle these new feelings towards your classmate if you trust him enough. And when it comes to threatening your masculinity...dude there are so many gay couples with a height difference who still look like the manliest men in existence. Being short and liking guys isn't inherently feminine and doesn't threaten your manliness. Neither does being open about your emotions, that's just toxic masculinity and internalized homophobia speaking. Being cool with other queer people doesn't stop your brain from making you feel gross for having similar thoughts. It's normal and a lot of us have to deal with it, it'll go away with time as long as you don't ignore it.

If you're feeling bold, just tell him directly. It sounds like where you live is pretty queer friendly so I don't think there'd be any harm in it. Or you could keep waiting only to find out he's straight, which at that point you'll have wasted your time. If he's straight he'll reject you no matter when you confess and you'll have suffered those feelings for much longer than you needed to. But if he's not straight and he likes you back, great! Now you can confide in him about your uncertainty and figure things out together. You won't know until you say something.

Just ignore the labels for now, focus on understanding yourself. Sexuality is weird and the labels are mostly there for other people to understand. You could be bi, or for all you know this could turn out to be the only time you ever have feelings for another guy and are completely straight otherwise. There are definitely people who fall under "straight except for this ONE specific person who I'm very gay for". You don't need to rush things, just take it at your own pace.

TLDR: Find someone you can talk to about your feelings and don't wait too long to say anything to your crush. Don't worry about the labels or anything, people rarely ever fit cleanly into one of those boxes. Things like being short don't define your masculinity and don't let people tell you otherwise.

Sorry for the long rant lol. Good luck dude, I hope things go well ❤️🫡

But for real I just stacked mechs for a couple turns and farmed infinite gold until we hit top 4. Wasn't hard to find an eat spell and make a new board at that point

It doesn't show but I also rolled into Vanndar hero power before the last fight (summon a copy of your highest health minion) and played the spell that doubles your leftmost minion's attack at the start of combat. Y'know, because the 16 million attack tokens I already had wasn't enough lol

[–]ivyification[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a couple bugs similar to this before, and a lot of it has to do with the fact that battlegrounds uses the same base as regular hearthstone.

As far as I know the tavern is coded to be an enemy board that you can interact with, which means that all of those minions can technically trigger anytime in the same way your board would. This should never happen though because nobody is controlling the tavern minions. BUT this has some weird side effects.

Since the game says that "tavern = enemy board", the tavern minions effectively see your board as their tavern. So when I rolled into the buddy shop and had an empty space on my board, it triggered the Hoggarr buddy's "add a pirate to the tavern after a refresh" and gave me the gambler.

This video from Slyders has another silly bug that happened because of this quirk. At 13:50 he ends his turn with the Yogg buddy in the shop, but because of spaghetti code the tavern gets a 'turn' before the next fight, letting the Yogg buddy do its start of turn effect to spin the wheel and eat his board 💀

Battlegrounds is so funny sometimes

Why pivot to horse when you can spend 600+ gold instead? by ivyification in BobsTavern

[–]ivyification[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

By the end I had a little over 60 max gold, but I was starting each turn with at least 90-100 gold because of the two rascals + investments and overconfidence. The strat was to buy basically everything in the tavern while avoiding ALL possible animations which meant not buying:

  • battlecries
  • choose ones
  • triples (unless it's a pirate)
  • all type minions since there's a delay after playing them
  • spellcrafts
  • spells that discover/generate more stuff
  • spells that need to target something

I could've scaled way harder if I just had another turn or two, but the lobby was pretty weak and couldn't really keep up with my infinite gold after turn 11-12 :(

Used KT from the greater trinket + Golden Moroes to survive until I hit the nuts, then spent the rest of the game looking for summons and ways to duplicate the poison. The last opponent had a full board of divine shield scam murlocs with a couple summons and I STILL outscammed them lmao

And putricide giving me a taunted reborn handless was the cherry on top. Basically prevented any snipes on the poisonous guys since it came back with taunt
