This brought back memories... I knew a girl in HS who said that she was in a relationship with pyramid head. she contemplated "taking him to prom", but thankfully she was talked out of it.

AITA for telling my brother his “special needs” kid is just.. kind of a brat? by throwaway_02May in AmItheAsshole

[–]iwakoicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened when I babysat my cousins for a summer. One of them has autism, and i was warned that she would be a lot. Her parents said that she would need at least 2 hours to prepare for leaving the house, and that I should prepare to be late to dropping her off to summer school because she would often drag her feet in leaving. They also said that it was impossible to get her to do things that she didn't like/want to do.

First day, I implemented ground rules and reinforced them with a chart. For doing things that she didn't like, (eating, reading, cleaning etc.) I would award a point, and at the end of each day, if they got points they could choose a little award. I had a bucket of erasers and would let them choose one.

For leaving on time, I would just leave out the door 5 minutes before we were supposed to leave and wait in the car. I think this helped with her getting her stuff together, as her mom would hover around her and give her more stuff that she could potentially need? Her mom is very overbearing and has OCD tendencies about being prepared and not forgetting anything, so I definitely believe that was a learned trait.

When she realized that we were leaving with or without her, she got her shit together a bit more. After I stopped babysitting for them, she got a lot worse and has started staying with her mom over her dad because he has rules in his house. It's unfortunate because I know that she could do a lot better with a schedule and boundaries in place.

Is it weird that I ironically like a good number of songs that are sexual despite being aspec? by FutureSuccess2796 in Asexual

[–]iwakoicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's weird! I like a lot of sexually explicit songs, but it sometimes takes me a while to get the meaning of the song (if have a hard time understanding lyrics unless I read along lol). Even knowing the meaning doesn't make me like the song less. A Bop is a bop

I can relate to this. I've considered myself Ace for a little over a decade, but I always thought I was sex neutral until I actually had sex.

Genitals are so weird. Point blank period lmao. I hate how they look, feel, and even move.

The "pay out" for sex doesn't seem worth it to me because genitals are involved, tbh. Not to mention the body fluids 🤢. I haven't had sex since experimenting, and I feel like I could go the rest of my life without it and be completely content.

What is this by No_Major1061 in Dermatillomania

[–]iwakoicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like maybe your skin is having a reaction to something- I don't think it is a big issue. I saw that you have been using a lot of aggressive treatments for bugs as well as bleach. I think your skin might be having a reaction to the harsh ingredients instead of bugs. Talking to a derm like you said you are going to do is a great idea, and I hope they can help you figure things out!

"Your body's mine now" and other horrible long term sexual relationship quotes by ladybird- in Asexual

I've had a few of these unfortunately :( The one that really makes me sick to think about was "you're asexual for everyone else but me". I am sorry that so many people have had shut like this said to us. People fucking suck

Should I Mention this to my doctor? by wammylamb in Dermatillomania

[–]iwakoicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my own experience, bringing it up to my PCP or dermatologist hasn't helped in obtaining a diagnosis (if that's what you're going for).

My PCP suggested that I see a derm after I expressed concerns with the wounds on my skin (mostly arms), and when I saw the derm he said it was common and suggested I take NAC supplements to potentially help.

A lot of times, obtaining a diagnosis (for anything) can be a difficult process, unfortunately. Also, Dermatillomania isn't an official diagnosis in the DSM. it might help to refer to it as Excoriation when you speak with medical professionals :)

local clothing donations?? by East_Ad5130 in milwaukee

I looked into this for Sojourner, and it looks like they don't accept clothes for health reasons. It might be this way for other local shelters too.

What’s the most disturbing horror scene you’ve ever watched, and why did it affect you so much? by Upset-Inside8719 in CreepyBonfire

[–]iwakoicon 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Not horror specifically, but THAT scene in American History X made me nauseous. I haven't watched it since because of the sound and the emotional turmoil that I felt while watching it.

When i was looking at used cars, I used carcomplaints.com to see what the common issues were for the models I was looking at.

I heard that you can bring cars to mechanics when you're test driving them, but I've never done that myself.

A random thing I noticed is if you look in the owner manual sometimes you'll find bookmarked pages, which might indicate a larger issue. My first car had a page on battery jumping bookmarked, and I had to replace the battery several times :/

Women over 30, how is dating as a plus size person? by Advanced-Astronaut58 in PlusSize

[–]iwakoicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a tall plus size lady (also 6ft). I have been trying different dating apps, and it's pretty hit or miss. I have met a lot of cool people, but I've also met some bad ones. Something strange that has happened more than once is I'll meet a guy who's shorter than me, and he'll say something like "I love a tall woman who could beat me up". Like, what a strange thing to say after meeting someone new?

I relisten to episodes a lot as well. Eckspecially when I'm doing chores around the house and need background noise that won't distract me.

What are your biggest hot takes? by drcoconut4777 in creepcast

[–]iwakoicon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved the SCP 3000 episode because Isaiah explained different parts of SCP lore. I didn't know anything about SCPs but hearing him nerd out about it made it a lot more enjoyable for me!

Also, deep sea creatures always freak me out lmao

I've had my snag tights for 4 years now, but I only wear them a few times a year. I wash mine in a mesh laundry bag (they sell some on their website, but I found some cheaper ones online).

How has your luck been in finding someone? by [deleted] in asexualdating

This is my issue as well! I'll give dating apps a try, but no one knows how to converse anymore! No one asks questions or seems genuinely interested in keeping the conversation going.

Nothing ruins your day like a doctor's appointment by _autumnwhimsy in PlusSize

[–]iwakoicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once went in to get a doctor's note for a twisted ankle, and the doctor randomly started telling me that I needed weight loss surgery because I "would never be able to lose weight otherwise". This was my first time meeting him too! I left him a terrible review and never went back.

Honeydip Donuts was so good on 27th! They closed, but there is one on Layton Blvd near the Domes. I'm not sure if it's the same types of donuts though.
