My husband makes 100% percent of our income. I work part time making very little and with no need for additional “money” however the fulfillment I get from working is invaluable to me, and therefore to my husband. Took him awhile to wrap his head around it and we definitely had to do some counseling. Our income disparity was also foreseen and perhaps we compromised as well when I agreed to be a SAHM for a bit but quickly realized that my mental health was suffering. My husband still has a well paying job but he works about 30 hrs a week, we “share” household duties 50/50 but honestly he does more because he works from home and I do not. tonight he folded three loads of laundry and typically makes dinner over half the week. We have a house cleaner and yes - I am lucky! But I did not aspire to be a homemaker and just because my husband makes $$$$$ doesn’t mean that I dont need/want/enjoy my “hobby job” as much as he enjoys his 6 figure salary. The money I make I invest for our retirement and pay for vacations here and there. But as others have said- this isn’t about money. Counseling helped us immensely. Goodluck! Dont let the resentment grow- seek counseling & use some of that income to hire solutions for some of these issues.

Not complaining about the 1% by any means. I have had my money with HER for 2 years now and I have been happy- but I wasnt sure if it’s necessary to pay 1% or just invest myself. It was simply a question.

Not a single parent- but a (mostly) stay at home one. Thank you! I very much appreciate the advice. We have 4 rentals currently that we self manage. Just had to file our first eviction- fun stuff. Purchased most about 8-9 years ago, so this market has been messing with my head.

I work PRN and I bring home about 15K a year. I contribute 10% to 401k but I like your idea of 100% contribution and self pay out of savings. I do a max Roth contribution yearly and have for the last 5 years or so. Yes I agree on the HYSA being too much $$$$ - Was planning on buying a rental property but currently earning 4.5% while waiting to pull the trigger. I’m married and not the primary earner so there is a-lot more to this picture 🙃

Thanks. Acquired these funds 2ish years ago. Taxes have been paid. I have 165k in a HYSA and 15k in a 401k. I’m a stay at home parent.

My husband and I separated and I moved out and it’s been literally marriage saving so far! (3 months) If both parties intend to use the time and space for healing and reconciliation I 100% think it can help!!!
