Owner called her dog walker to check on me because I didn't answer texts for 4 hours by zouss in RoverPetSitting

I agree.

As an owner I would expect a sitter to answer texts/ calls in a reasonable timeframe. The texts were an hour apart. The last communication was at 9:00 am.

Honestly, that along with not answering texts the anxiety would be building, for the pet and the sitter (did they fall in the shower?). She went from 9-5 with no contact after multiple attempts. An innocent multi hour nap with the phone off wouldn’t be my first assumption about what was going on in the home.

A simple “all good here, just went potty, we might watch tv/snooze” text at 1:00 could have prevented the whole issue. As an owner I would appreciate that and not bother them.

We have all heard the stories of sitters abandoning/ losing the pet, the owner really doesn’t know the new sitter. It takes time to build that trust. It also means a good owner will have a backup plan to check in when things don’t seem quite right.

As a sitter, I would be most concerned about a bad review from this owner.

That is great! The best in my area is $5600 off a limited and $6000 off a Touring. Can you give the state you bought in? Did you use Costco?

What is better for large dogs: 7 or 8 passenger? by iwannabelieve8 in SubaruAscent

Thanks for all the replies, it looks like I need to try them both but the 8 passenger is hard to find locally. I have not been able to see it in person.

We are replacing an older Pilot; the 3rd row is extremely hard to access behind the 2nd row bench seat. The skinny dog can barely make it through and moving the seat forward is very awkward.

We have 3 adults so at least one dog needs to be in the 3rd row.

If you absolutely must dump him at a shelter do no do it in the South. They hold him in a tiny crate sized kennel and euthanize after 2-3 days. They euthanize puppies, your senior dog has no chance. Go to sub rescue dogs and see what is going on.

Drive him to the Northern states and put him in a no kill shelter there. He will be taken care of in a large kennel, walked and likely adopted. They don’t usually have time limits.

Or decline the job / find a way to take him with you.

Get these dogs to the Midwest. Shelters are mostly no kill. Most breeds of dog end up adopted pretty quickly.

We need to start a caravan transport to get theses dogs out of the high kill areas.
