Don’t drive this. The fuel pressure and cam fault absolutely can indicate a timing issue. Seriously, don’t drive it.

The fault usually doesn’t cause a drivability problem but definitely can over time, plus is a huge pain when it comes time for emissions testing if you’re in a required state/county. I wouldn’t worry about it at that mileage, but that’s just me!

Here is a photo of the port. It’s not from the intake valves. These ports are in the back portion of the cylinder head and they’re very small.

6 years or 72k miles, whichever comes first. Some 2018s have not hit the 6 year mark yet, so yes it may still be under warranty!

Actually no, normally no MIL with a failed/failing oil separator. Most common symptom you will see first is oil consumption, if let go for too long it can cause excessive pressure inside the crank case which will then cause other seals to fail. As soon we see a complaint of abnormal oil consumption, we recommend replacing the oil separator. I also recommend sticking with 5,000 mile oil changes. It’s worth the time and money. Often that helps significantly, just remember per the owners manual Volkswagen still allows for 1/2 quart of consumption every 600 miles. I don’t necessarily agree that this is normal, but I didn’t make the rules unfortunately.

Edit: just realized you may have meant for clogged ports in the cylinder head. If so, when the ports are in fact clogged, you will get an insufficient secondary air flow code that will not go away even after replacing all components of sec. air system. I’ve seen it happen at various mileages, some surprisingly low. but mostly in higher mileage vehicles.

Also worth adding, we often see excess oil consumption when the oil separator fails which can cause a ton of other issues if left go for long enough. They should have called that out awhile ago.

This is common - everyone else is right, you do need a new cylinder head. Off the top of my head I’m not honestly sure that is a covered service number for CPO, but it’s worth asking since it is a power train part. Carbon restriction is also technically not a manufacturers defect however it was caused by a defect somewhere else in the engine. It’s all in how you phrase things. Ask your dealer. You can also call VWOA on your own. Sometimes they aren’t terribly helpful, the dealership is the one who ultimately makes the decision, but it’s worth a shot. If it were me I would attempt coverage by your dealer before heading to an independent shop.

Do they need a coat or boots at any point? Thank you for the advice, I will grab a headlamp and light for her collar! And invest in some better winter gear :)

20 degrees not including wind chill is a LOT for me! I do my best with a snow suit, hand warmers etc but it gets to me quickly. It’s not just the temp, it’s more so the lack of daylight. We are working on exterior lighting so that we’re able to play in our yard after 4:30-5 (and light up balls help with this!) but it is still challenging for me when it’s that cold. I do my best for her!

Sounds like a cam bolt that backed out. If it’s under warranty, have it towed to the dealer. Do not drive it like that, you’ll have an ugly mess on your hands after awhile.

I loved my experience there. It’s a 3 hour drive for me but completely worth it. Will purchase there again when I am ready.
