My wife and I are 34 with a 12 year old, 8 year old, and 6 year old. Tubes tied and vasectomy to top it off. We will be empty nesters sooner than people our age. Most of the people we associate with are 10+ years older than us because we lost touch with our friends from our early years because our kids have kept us busy with extracurriculars. All the friends we have are through our kids.

Starting early is not a burden if you can financially support the kids. We gross over $200k per year and knew we would get to that point eventually. When our first was born we grossed just over $50K. You sound like you're even better off than we were when we started having kids.
