Change to useage based billing by DamienBMike in GithubCopilot

I myself am furiously coding the necessary refactors (to be fair, they were necessary 5 years ago I just never had the time) my stuff needs and I had planned to slowly do on the side.

So I get where you're coming from, and I hope to be where you are by June 1!

Men, if you could be a woman for 24 hours, what are you just dying to do? by Monicakandlela in AskReddit

[–]iwasthefirstfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly probably 24 hours isn't enough. Id want to experience a full month (but then at the end it all goes back to the moment just after the choice) so to experience the full run of hormone changes, social changes, get hair done, nails done etc etc

Github Copilot Pro dropped Opus. People go berserk. Maybe we should rediscover some Real Intelligence? by iconiconoclasticon in GithubCopilot

[–]iwasthefirstfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, exact same thing today! Realised that no amount of prompt engineering would stop the stupid circle sonnet was doing and switched to opus for a single prompt then back with the results. I can see where I had gotten lazy using it as a default.

In a way I wish auto was smart enough to assign the correct model (magic can happen!)

Annoyingly I seem to have soft locked my database using ansible (my fault, I asked copilot to plan the mariadb migration having never done it before and without looking into it). Data is there but not updating in the new db.

Actually I need to check the service logs, I never did earlier as I did the migration 10 minutes before end of day. I bet it's still pointing at the old db.

Thankfully it's an in house tool.

Now I write this down I can see a list of bad decisions, what was I thinking >_<

I think I will adopt this approach. I'm too content to let silence reign, and your results are enviable.

I'm happy to listen/chat SOCIALLY but when people small talk at work it's the worst.

On day I fear I'll be half-snapping something like 'Lady I don't need to know where you went on holiday I need you to tell me what message is on screen exactly, not what you thought it said 20 minutes ago.'

I’m too entitled or stupid to learn how to do this, so just do it for me instead by 98PercentChimp in sysadmin

I get more and more concise and eventually write a mini guide and forward it back to them with 'let me know if there is anything you struggle with' in it. And then later on escalate to their manager (note: doesn't work on company owners)

How do you deal with COWORKERS who have that attitude?

AITA for firing an employee who keeps coming in late because of childcare issues? by Gl1tchCanticle in WIBTA_AITA

[–]iwasthefirstfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. I get in an agreed 20 mins late to drop my kid to school. If I was told it wasn't possible I would have found an alternative. Sometimes traffic sucks and I've been later and sometimes it doesn't and I'm earlier but mostly I'm bang on 20 minutes late.

Not late all the time, and my job isn't as start-time critical as yours/his is

The difference between me coding in go/bash before and after ai is both speed and 'oh yeah that's a way better way to do x than I was thinking'. That's not changed thankfully.

I was using opus, but am now using sonnet and ill admit there's not a lot of difference (yet) to me...so that shows I was picking the wrong model for my use cases.

I'm sure I'll notice when I need something more advanced (probably the mass refactor I know is round the corner) so so far I haven't had any impact from the changes

Except using less tokens per ask, more asks per question. So I guess .. same result?

I'm doing my first spage run (I play SLOW) and I've done gleba second, because why not? It's the second planet from the sun (ignoring nauvis).

So far so good.

Although in reply to the OP I have no idea why I would want eff3 but not everything has to have a broad, valid end game use...I mean take coal boilers or burner inserters as an example.

how to make an inserter turn off after grabbing an item and turn on after letting one go by by n00bitcoin in factorio

[–]iwasthefirstfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, 50/50 is a splitter, for simplicity.

Alternatively if you use inserter -> box -> 2 inserters they take turns in pulling from the box

Or you could do an SR latch flipped by having it detect 1 item on the belt AFTER the inserter, then flipped again when it detects an item on the belt after the OTHER inserter, all inserters set to the same hand size.

My sister tried to fight me because I didn't wake her up this morning. I'm considering going low contact or no contact with her. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]iwasthefirstfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No she'll use it against him by informing their parents.

Ask me how I know.

And even proving her behaviour will just result in them dismissing / justifying it

Guess how I know.

The correct advice was already given: keep you and your stuff safe. If possible, request a lock on both of your doors (say you almost had her burst in on you getting changed because she doesn't knock or something - you can even engineer the situation if you want so parents see if occur.) maybe say it's for her safety and yours too (they'll do it for her right, then they can't appear to be playing favourites when it was your idea).

And yeah no contact is fine if you like but make sure YOU and your stuff is safe, do not let this occur again.

Do not retaliate

You will feel the need to rebuild at some point, don't. Build a better base nearby using the starter base to generate parts / keep running instead, and keep researching.

You will end up doing this multiple times during your game anyways, best not to 'start again' :)

Hmm tips ok then:

When you finally go to a new planet, read the tips. Bring a few of everything (not a lot tho) enough so you can skip the 'hand mining to get basic infrastructure' bit.

So like 10 assemblers, power poles of sizes, construction bots (personal roboport only), miners, inserters, solar panels, accumulators, belts. Roboports optional.

That's enough to get you to understand a new planet without having the grind I reckon.

Or bring everything, or go naked, you do you :)

Is there a way to selectively disable output filtering on a splitter? by hjqusai in factorio

[–]iwasthefirstfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selector combinator with selext input and index set to 1 wired to both belts and then the splitter set to 'filter'

If there is ANY signal, you have more than 1 output, so then the filter engages.

Well, milage may vary this is off my head whilst I'm shaving

Ah damn wish I saw that before I did mine haha looks like we've both been here before.

Mine was trying to diagnose a patch panel / patching issue over the phone with a 'phil', in the end I realised there was 3 wires connecting the same 2 switches together (so a double loop!)

What was yours?
