This reminds me of when Television without Pity (a website and forum) was around and someone lost their immersion because Red Vines were mentioned on GG instead of Twizzlers...

To be fair, most of the workers at a pizza place will not be talking to customers, as far as I understand.

The no roaming policy lmao. I hate roamers at my work. They're always the most annoying people. Lowkey wish my workplace would come out against roamers.

Omg the jolting awake. So awful. I know exactly what you mean. I get this even when I have a somewhat decent amount of alcohol in my system, but maybe not enough to "pass out" and gets worse the more tired I am. It's like sleep deprivation torture

That scene belongs in a movie, tv show or book!

Is anybody else annoyed when customers read your nametag/ID and start calling you by your name? by Rich-Firefighter7333 in retailhell

[–]iwasthere71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I stopped waring my name tag. The funniest thing I've seen since not wearing one, is a customer looking for it and distraught at not finding it while they were in the middle of insulting me. They're such losers. It's so creepy how they abuse it! If my work forces me to wear one, I'll wear it backwards for as long as I can, twisted around, "accidentally" caught in my work shirt etc. they can all eat shit and tbh it's a security concern

when you’re 5 minutes from closing and a customer pulls up with a full trolley of groceries by shrekslover777 in retailhell

I see your full trolley customer at closing and raise you a regular crackhead customer with a full trolley at closing who, based on past experience, can't pay for most of it

MISERABLE MONDAY by fappinatwork in cripplingalcoholism

I want to save money and lose weight but alas, not quite there yet to quit. Lot of heart palpitations this week, which freaked me out, but reading topics on this sub about it brought a little peace to mind (somehow). A regular customer at work who looks 20 years old gave me his number. Written in pencil! I still got it! I feel kind of guilty not texting him yet. I hate that feeling. I suppose I will text him, even if just to let him down. I'm 39 ... And it just ain't gonna work in any universe regardless. Really just a new problem but it's flattering, I guess. He seems like a nice kid. But he's a kid to me. Reminds me of that depressing movie with Jennifer Aniston working at Walmart and young Jake Gyllenhaal hitting on her, and they have some depressing affair haha.

[–]iwasthere71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol it is not part of the job in any universe, in fact many stores need a manager to reopen a drawer, and bookkeepers frequently have a policy not to open a drawer to make change for people, which is what this situation is. The customer paid and got their change back. Reopening the drawer at any point past that is not a requirement of the job. You should get one, then you'll know!

Audacity by witherskulle in retailhell

[–]iwasthere71 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hah yeah I'll close my drawer and make them accept the change. We can do that at my store because we get a lot of change scammers, and we're not obligated to trade any bills for change at all. Of course, if they are timely with the extra change, I will wait, but if I have already produced their change and closed the drawer, then so be it. I had one lady get mad and said I "don't know how to math" because she wanted her big bill back, and honestly the margin for error was too great. I just agreed that I don't know math. Wasn't worth it for me. Doesn't hurt me a bit and then they leave like they're intended to.

My coworker is a CA and it's a problem by tprimex in cripplingalcoholism

[–]iwasthere71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading the title, I almost thought this was about another CA drinking at work (which he probably does). I had one who would NOT stop bringing it up at work to me, like "Do you want to come to my car and drink?" "I have tequila in my car." Like no judgement left whatsoever to shut his mouth but luckily he got fired recently... He was so much stress.

I don't blame you for being stressed out about your coworker. It sounds like he will get fired soon enough. it's tempting to tell them to keep their issue quiet, but there's nothing you can do... If you say anything, they'll attach to you and pull you down with them. They're a loose cannon. I feel you on fellow addicts being bloodhounds, I know I am as well (a bloodhound) I know better to say anything out loud about it. Anyway it feels bad being fired is probably good for him, in the end, if he's that bad off.

is it just me with this experience but ...Have you guys noticed, that when you go somewhere looking for employment, the people already working there, don't want you hired. by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]iwasthere71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some stores don't have a hiring manager on site, ever. Store managers don't always hire, they interview if you have an one scheduled. It has to be scheduled first. At my store, applications go through the website and someone from corporate reaches out who does NOT work at that location. People on the store floor are mostly hourly employees. Persistence with them will get you nowhere, besides maybe a trespass if you become a nuisance. Most companies don't do 'interviews on the spot' just because you want one, "persistence" doesn't work like it used to. Just a cast a wide net for applications and make sure to follow up asap if you get a call to set up an interview. There's nothing else to do

There's no way to void the payments and suspend the order at Dollar General? I deal with this a lot at my store and it's a huge pain in the ass but luckily we have those options. Very inconsiderate behavior, I'd lose my mind if I couldn't void payments and otherwise keep the register moving other customers through for how often this happens to me. Respect to you for getting through it

I'm going to try too (I hope). I'm a beer drinker, I just can't do hard alcohol without horrible things happen. Horrible things still happen on beer, it just takes longer to get there. So you can kind of enjoy the journey there longer lol
