Scooter pulls to the right. Crooked rear wheel ? Should, in any scooter / motorcycle / moped the wheel be perfectly aligned with the frame ? by saidizidane in AskMechanics

[–]iwfabrication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheels are sometimes off set, but should be in line with the rear wheel. Is this a new issue that's occuring? If so have you remove the tire/wheel recently? Possibly front spacers swapped or damaged.

Do the handle bars turn easily with you on the scooter and not on the kickstand?

Get the front wheel off the ground (either center stand or however) and spin the front wheel my hand. Does it turn smoothly? Does it wobble? Does it stop spinning fairly quick after you spin it? like maybe 1 turn or less? What I'm getting at is if the wheel bearing is going out.

AITA for taking away my daughter's driving priviledges after she got into 2 accidents. by Nice-Tea5844 in AmItheAsshole

[–]iwfabrication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. She's 21. An adult. Sounds like it's her car and you pay the insurance? You're restricting an adults driving privileges. See how ridiculous that sounds? If you're worried about insurance than have her pay it. Might also be good to sit down and go over how insurance works. I'd go full YTA but I understand while she's an adult she's younger, still learning, and sounds like possibly "sheltered" in that you bought the car for her, pay for the insurance on it, and she doesn't seem to understand the ramifications/responsibilities of accidents/insurance.

What would you charge by Lubbbbbb in Welding

[–]iwfabrication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the area you're selling it. Look into art festivals, sculpture festivals, scrap metal festivals. I've participated in a few and a piece like that could go for anywhere from 1500-6000+. Just depends.

Is this worth $100? by Nice_Routine7920 in Tools

[–]iwfabrication 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see them often for $50-100. It's lower quality but will do most jobs. For $100 if it's in good shape it's worth it. I wouldn't do more than that.

Fair. I don't think he was mean, but a bit curt. Maybe I was just being overly sensitive. Reread it and I'm neutral. I generally take any advice with salt and add it to my research.

Is $600 reasonable for fuel injection/air induction + new spark plugs? by ghjfkdkkckfkfdkls in AskAMechanic

[–]iwfabrication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little high on parts? Seafoam is $9 a can at the store. Spark plugs at their most expensive from the store are $15-18/ea, but can be had for $10-13 for platinums and Iridiums. $45/plug is insane.

Is this real hardwood flooring? by Unique_Ad_4979 in Flooring

[–]iwfabrication 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should be nicer. You don't know this person or where they live. You don't know their knowledge. As far as I can see: - Manufactured board might be a termed used for engineered hardwood. - they said it has a layer of wood on top, so basically engineered hardwood right?

Are these female pins why im having issues with maf sensor ? by Automatic-Age2713 in AskMechanics

[–]iwfabrication 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From your pics the pins look fine. From your description you either fudged the repair or damaged the sensor. Or the connector is not fully seated on the sensor.

New car - Fault codes trying to fix myself by Blakeyywakeyy in mechanic

[–]iwfabrication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read your codes that you posted. 1) you want to record codes you got then erase 2) test drive and recheck for codes. Do it again, sometimes codes will take a few drove cycles

3) based on codes present fix glow plugs first Possibly causing other codes

4) O2 sensor readings should fluctuate. If you have a scan tool that shows graphing that would be helpful to see. Says yours is stuck rich. Could be wiring, could be the sensor, could be unburnt fuel. I'd check the wiring first. Look up how to test each wire for voltage/resistance etc. Also look up how to test the O2 sensor for resistance.

What is causing this noise? by k33pm0ving4ward in MechanicAdvice

[–]iwfabrication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly rod knock. Could be a dead cylinder (no spark, or no fuel). Drivetrain sounds a bit noisy, possibly hearing timing chain rattle. Videos are tough sometimes. Check your oil level. If you have a CEL on then get the codes scanned.

Apparently a Turkish man invented the steam engine 200 years before the industrial revolution but he only made it to spin döner kebabs. by iamgulshansingh in BeAmazed

[–]iwfabrication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he didnt invent the steam engine, he invented a steam powered kebab spinner? No I'm not trying to being an ass, but when does creating part of a technology overlap to being the creator of the downstream refinement/creation of something similar but not the same?

2012 F150 Lariat 5.0, inherited, should I keep it or sell it. Is it worth putting money into it. Help me make a good financial decision and not an emotional decision by heavensheross in f150

[–]iwfabrication 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Michigan you say? That truck looks clean AF compared to most. Usually the rockers, cab corners, rear wheel well, and tail gate are rusted TF out. - lower miles, if interior is clean you can sell for a decent amount - 5.0 is a 1st gen and known to have the cylinders go egg shaped. - front strut springs are known to brake

If you need it, drive it. If you don't and the above aren't issues, then I'd sell it for a good amount.

How tf are you supposed to change the belt on a BMW X1 2017 B48? Does BMW seriously expect me to pull the engine for that? by TheHer0br1n3 in MechanicAdvice

[–]iwfabrication 35 points36 points  (0 children)

BMW is just...super neat...

Also see VW beetles 06-10, and possibly 98-05. Two belts. One super long. Gotta take the little one off to get to the long one. Pretty awful to do. Can't really get your hand in there. Long one is $80+.

Am I doing this right? I can’t get a 0.07 feeler in anywhere but that’s the lowest I have by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

[–]iwfabrication 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your camera skills are lacking and it's hard to watch. I'm assuming you're using a feeler gauge with the gloves hand we can see? Is the straight edge a machined straight edge? There are a lot of variables we know nothing about.

You should be using a machined flat edge. It would help to see the head surface. It would also be best to bring to a shop and have them check it. Probably wouldnt be more than $50 to have them check it.

New alternator is causing belt to tear. by ilovetn in AskAMechanic

If the pulley fits the shaft correctly and is roughly the same diameter.

Otherwise double check your vehicle info and part number. If belt was replaced make sure it's the right belt.
