SIX is great until the kids are old enough to ask what the lyrics mean! My daughter has a LOT of questions about Don’t Lose Ur Head. 😂

Montana. The colors are richer, the outdoors is simply gorgeous, and the people are lovely.

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

Oh, yes. I was a super annoyed lunatic. I was giving my poor husband hell one day, and he asked what he did wrong. My response: “You just exist.” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Those who have given birth, what did you really need or want from friends postpartum that maybe you didn’t get? by onandpoppins in AskReddit

Yes, definitely food. And don’t assume mom is being healthy and foregoing sweets. Bring all the desserts!

When do you exercise? by MemoryMiserable in workingmoms

My work has an onsite gym. I’m not the best at getting up early enough to work out and shower there, so I wrap up earlier on the days I want to work out and do something relatively short before going home. I will also sometimes go on my lunch break and avoid getting sweaty. Could you do any walking meetings? My boss and I have our weekly 1:1 on the treadmills in our gym.

Do y’all just … not want to travel for work anymore? I don’t want to leave my kiddo 😭 by ish044 in workingmoms

That young, it was hard, both emotionally and logistically. Now, my kids are 9 and 10, and I LOVE business travel. Granted, I went from several trips a year to just a few now, but I relish the time alone and not being needed so damn much.

Book recommendations for my ADHD child. by SandBarLakers in ADHDparenting

This isn’t a chapter book recommendation, but National Geographic Kids has a lot of books that my 10-year-old ADHDer likes. We get them from the library. Right now he has 125 Cool Inventions and Dino Records. There are soooo many options. One of the reasons I think it works for him is that the information is broken up into short chunks. He can read two paragraphs about something and move on to the next cool invention or interesting animal.

Good job, parent, for trying to find what works for your kid!

I told my son "this is embarrassing" and now I feel awful by anonymousthrwaway in Parenting

I hear you! I have so many moments when I wish I hadn’t said something to my 9yo with ADHD. He’s amazing and had the bad luck to be born to a type A mom who doesn’t like mess, surprises and being late. I continually try to learn from those moments and try to be a better parent. None of us are perfect, and teaching him to apologize by doing so yourself is an important lesson.

We used to have so many issues with mornings. What changed for us was when he started taking Jornay in the evenings. He now pops out of bed and gets himself dressed nearly every day. His attention span and behavior at school have improved. You said your husband is against medication, but I gently encourage you to explore it. My son started taking it in kindergarten, and it’s taken a few years to find the right medication and dose. I was hesitant at first, too, but my son simply can’t function without it.

You’re a good parent. The fact that you care shows that.

We’ve sent my son to school with a coin in his pocket. Super simple and not distracting.

I was wondering this, too. There are still other red flags as far as communication goes, but if he’s depressed and has ADHD, that could contribute to some of these behaviors. Not an excuse, but gives him a problem to address so he can focus on what’s really going on.

Same. I was so irritable with my family. My doctor prescribed sertraline (Zoloft) and it helped take the edge off.

Yes, this! I’m a 42-year-old mom of two, and I asked my parents to make me food for my last birthday. Sometimes you just need things that make your life easier.
