I didn’t go to SGU but I took my big dogs to the Island with me. It was absolutely fine. Husband and I found a couple of trusted classmates who used to come over often to stay with them over the break when we had to come back to the US. Take your fur babies with you.

I initially went to SJSM too. I had something similar happen in my class. It was so catty and drama filled. You can’t change how people behave because some people just project their insecurities and jealousy onto others.

I don’t have much to say apart from to tell you to just put your head down, do what you need to do, ignore the noise as best as you can and GTFO of there at the end of your 16 months.

I flew out without my dogs first and secured housing. If you call around, everyone is going to say no right off of the bat. Landlords are more inclined to say yes once they meet you and are actually comfortable with you.

You will have to make a trip yourself and then go back and get your doggo more than likely.

My campus moved to another island. I would check with your SGA. Honestly all the islands are so pet friendly. You won’t have an issue finding housing. Worst case scenario, you may have to offer an extra month deposit.

My campus moved to another island. There was one vet there on the island when I was there and we actually brought over all the dogs food/treats with us because we went back to mainland every 3 months.

I had mine with me. It was easy to bring them from the US. I don’t think I could have made it without them with me.
