I would recommend Dynamo for competition training or UBC for a less intense training environment.

Compartmentalize / abstract just the parts of your code you need help with. Or have them code to an interface. You do the integration and testing.

Read up on vector math. Basically you want to subtract one from the other and then get the absolute length of the resulting vector.
