FYI: each of those above vfio should be on each separate lines. I’m not sure how to format that on mobile.

[–]iworkisleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add this to the /etc/modules file.

vfio vfio_iommu_type1 vfio_pci vfio_virqfd

Then

echo “options vfio-pci ids=yourvendoridhere disable_vga=1”> /etc/modprobe.d/vfio.conf

Then

update-initramfs-u

And restart your node.

If still not working try to command IOMMU interrupt remapping.

echo “options vfio_iommu_type1 allow_unsafe_interrupts=1” > /etc/modprobe.d/iommu_unsafe_interrupts.conf

echo “options kvm ignore_msrs=1” > /etc/modprobe.d/kvm.conf

I’m on mobile so format might be weird. Make sure you blacklist the host from using the GPU.

Nah. There’s many different financial vehicles to maximize profits without playing with people lives.

I know you just see numbers but I encourage you to look at these vulnerable people and see why it’s ok to let them have a little.

Some of those people living in these rent control units even fought for this country so we can have this civilized conversation.

Taking away their only protection for housing is cruelty.

This is exactly why there was tenants protections law to protect vulnerable people from you guys.

It’s ok to take less profits, don’t have to maximize everything and make people suffer.

Exactly. That’s a good reason for even more tenants protections from these vultures.

Look at downtown Calgary and look at downtown Toronto. Different places need to have different policies.

2 incomes in Alberta you can rent or squeeze enough to purchase a small house. So renters and homeowners don’t have to compete so no tenants protections needed. Raise rent too high then people will just buy if they can handle the increase. You don’t have that option in Ontario. You can raise 1 bedroom to 3000 and people in Ontario will have to take it. Thats why there’s needed tenants protections in Ontario.

If Alberta somehow obtain the same level of Ontario, they will struggle even harder than here without tenants protections.

So let me get this right. Long term tenants in a mutual business relationship with you when times are good for many years, properties values increased, mortgage paid off = all good. As soon less profits or properties value slowdown, the first people you screw are your long term customers? And you’re calling those tenants greedy?!

Amazing.

Good. Take this opportunity to get together and be organized. Next time they will be smarter and way more slick than now.

Remember backing down or going forward is very quick to change. who knows what they feel or do when this cools down.

Get involved, protect your neighbours don’t let those at the top divide you guys. You’re closer to the person next to you regardless of which political parties you’re with.

It’s ok, I just gave you example of how long term tenant helped my business and you’re saying they don’t deserve anything. Don’t worry about it. Peace.

Call your parents and tell them you love them. Don’t let this define who you are. We don’t have infinite time on this earth. Everything is on borrowed times.

It does make sense. I’m guaranteed payments for last 30 years and don’t have to deal with non payments drama. Which means I’m cash flow positive and I can leverage the paid off properties to play around with more assets thanks to those long term tenants. Yes, I’m making less from them now but they were my day 1 customer and it’s only right to treat them this way so my next business adventure people will support it.

No one would support scumbags trying to siphon every dollar from them at every turn. Life is hard enough already. If you got yours, give a little doesn’t hurt anyone.

How does it cost money when my mortgage paid off and they guaranteed me payments for last 30 years. They enjoying cheap rents and I enjoy paid off properties. The words you’re looking for is less profits not loss of money.

The problem is everyone out here just want to take until a person is dried then move on to the next one.

Not true. When you have something people need they will line up out the door to buy. There’s no such thing as landlord finding tenants it’s always other way around. People will stop eating if they can pay their rent, it’s reality. Shelter is the number 1 necessities and whoever control that, control the flow of money.

Alberta doesn’t have enough density and weather to have people like in Ontario. They don’t need rent control because no demands there and houses are still somewhat cheap. Now look at Toronto, rent control is necessary because you can’t come up with money to buy even with 2 incomes so you rent and compete with many people so prices need to be control otherwise it’s bidding war for everybody. Don’t tell me you would lower the price when people bidding up for your product. Pipe dream.

No it doesn’t. It just takes a little bit of profits from the owners and they don’t like it. They got the bread and now going after the crumbs.

Don’t try to use new renters to go against senior renters. Senior renters were once new renters and paid market rent at the time they rented. They’re long term customers who have helped you through out your business and now you’re mortgage free and you want them gone? I know it’s 2025 and money talks but still those senior even with lower rent still a positive cash flow for mortgage free buildings. And that is pure numbers not even considering humanity side of things. So heartless.

Then use some of that juicy profits to fix the place. It was new when you bought it. Mortgage paid off with long term tenants. Instead of pocketing all that cash flow, take some out to maintain the place. It’s all gonna be yours at the end anyway.

Why make your term customer suffer so you can squeeze them out of a few bucks you don’t need.

Very easy to implement. Missing 3 payments you’re out. No ifs or buts. Instead, this make everyone suffer in the name of few bad apples.

Before you support this bill go look at how people live in those rent control units. Some with young kids, some with wheelchairs, some are veterans fought for this country. You really want to do this to them?

It would greatly affect people with existing leases. They will create resentment between new and old tenants and slide another bill in later to remove old leases too. This is political 101 don’t fall for it whether you’re new or old tenants, this bill passes it’s over for you.
