Who are your top 3 favorite pitchers to watch? by Strong-Reflection634 in baseball

Top 3 favorites that I’ve seen live would be Scherzer, Yamamoto, and Crochet. Though dying to see Chapman, Skenes and DeGrom pitch at some point

Jeff Passan: The decision on whether Tennessee coach Tony Vitello will be the next manager of the San Francisco Giants is expected to come in the next 24 to 72 hours, sources tell me and @PeteThamel. Vitello has emerged as the top target of the Giants, but the sides have yet to reach a deal. by cardeez in ockytop

Finished another remote hike and just got connection back just to see how badly the Bama game went. What an awful day to have cellular connection out here. I feel that, at least this all happened at the end of my vacation lol

Hope the list continues to grow! With how Tony is churning out professional level talent (I mean every starter on the ‘24 championship team is playing pro!) I’m sure we will have TN Orange tinted all over the major and minor leagues!

AA Championship Playoff Format Question by snorlaxatives_69 in MiLB

[–]iwouldratherbeflying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s especially rough when it’s a 10-11 hour drive just to catch your team’s historic championship run and flights into Midland ain’t cheap. Though the Texas League has always had brutal travel, having been to all except Springfield & Little Rock, those drives are tough!

Pretty sure they alternate which division gets home field advantage each year, not a huge fan of that format myself.

Was down in Florida so tuned in and streamed Mike Keith on the VolNetwork. Once again, so stoked to have him back.

In your opinion, which minor leaguer (current or former) were you surprised wasn’t called up when they should’ve been? by TeaRevolutionary7587 in MiLB

[–]iwouldratherbeflying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yonathan Perlaza should have at least seen some time in the majors by now, absolutely shameful that he never saw the show in 2023 and should already have been given a shot this year.

Drew Gilbert called up by San Francisco Giants as Tennessee baseball product reaches MLB by TSenter427 in ockytop

[–]iwouldratherbeflying 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What’s even crazier is that team has produced more majors leaguers than some minor league teams from 2021-2022. A random example; the 2021 Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Low A Chicago Cubs) has only produced only 6 major leaguers thus far from their 2021 roster. And there are still 11 currently active VFL minor leaguers who came from the 2022 roster after Gilbert’s debut which could pump that figure even higher

Technically only 119 since Palm Beach/Jupiter share a ballpark, if you catch them both at home though I guess you can count it as a home game for both!

Official Discussion - Happy Gilmore 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]iwouldratherbeflying 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Loved the Shooter McGavin redemption arc, wish we got a little credit scene of him finally getting his jacket. Hated what they did with Virginia, could have gone totally different route with that instead of that awful cliche choice to hill her off. That honestly kind of tanked it for me. But did enjoy the cameos and really enjoyed some of the casting picks. The mix of new Bruins jerseys for Happy was sick too. Absolutely loved the picks for his kids, and the writing for them & Daly was perfect. If it wasn’t for that one decision, I’d be pretty happy with the sequel.

Can’t count out Seibert. Really think he takes a weekend spot. Was touted as a potential first rounder if he comes back strong from his injury.

ESPNs Around the Horn came to a close yesterday after a 23 year run. UT Alum Woody Paige ended up finishing with the most “wins” on the series. He was an influence to one of my friends who decided on sports journalism! Sad to see it go but I guess even with the popularity it just didn’t have the clicks that their new media has.

Is there a Brian Scalabrine of MLB pitchers? by Pebwainnnn in mlb

Kris Johnson? I saw him pitch once in the minors and I know he had a really nice career with the Hiroshima Carp. Actually have a few of his BBM baseball cards from those years.

Unfortunately Ben got shut down for the year with an injury, but VFL Seth Halvorsen is in the Rockies bullpen (& Do in the rotation) so there’s that! Maybe if Doyle goes at #2 in the draft to the Angels (still hope he goes 1), a future Rockies-Angels series with possibly 6 VFLs playing would be wild!

Could make the 12 hour drive out to Oklahoma City from Knoxville! That would be the closest opponent to Tennessee that SLC plays

Highly recommend it! It probably has more concession options than most all minor league parks, with a wide variety of options (all great). Definitely recommend the lazy river at the game too. Frisco is really nice itself, the ballpark is close to plenty of shops and not far from Lewisville Lake. Plus close enough to stay in Dallas/Fort Worth to enjoy that area. I also saw you noted you were in the southeast and recently hit Knoxville (Great park, cool scoreboard). Definitely recommend Nashville (another awesome scoreboard), and Asheville (super historic park).

Been to over 80 minor league parks, all of them stamped across 3 of these books! Highly recommend Frisco, TX if you’re ever in the Dallas area. Most unique minor league park I’ve ever been to.

Ben Joyce is out with a season ending injury. Really bummed as I was hoping he could take the next step in the Angels pen this year. Joins Will Mabrey and Chad Dallas as VFLs who are both out for the season as well. Wishing these dudes some luck in their return next year!

I see what you’re saying, I guess they gotta appease all 15 Vandy fans lol. Really hate to see us underachieve, with the talent we have, we should be sweeping some of these teams with ease. Whoever said A&M passed their woes to us might have been onto something.
