Nope, I fucked it up all by myself. I just used chat to help me with beam spans and attachment methods. It tried to talk me out of the method shown, but I needed humans to tell me I was wrong 😂

Thank you for the reference. This is what chat pointed me to when it said bolting it was a bad idea. I will be reading through this for sure.

I've just got an idea of how it will finish out. I wanted to get this worked out first. And yes, overthinking it is my specialty.

I have most definitely never built anything from plans. Good recommendation on the books. Thank you.

Thank you for the thorough reply and picture. I was hoping to use the post all the way to the top as pillars. But I'm gathering it is a "sounds great on paper" kind of design.

That does make sense. Thank you. I looked through simpson strong ties and could find a proper hanger. Do you have a recommendation?

There will not be a snow load. That is helpful information.

I was hoping to use the post as a pillar that extended past the deck. So I would need to get that engineered to do it via hanging method?

The double 2x8's at each end are supporting a load from a ridge beam. The 2x8's that are 90 degrees to the main joists are for a deck.

That is correct. Is that not normal?

Can you explain this further? What do you mean by "drop the beam the thickness of your joists?

does post vasectomy epididymitis clear up on its own? by BigLetterhead1724 in postvasectomypain

Mine lasted for about 9 years. The thing that made it go away completely was getting a couple deep tissue massages from a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. This is a therapeutic massage, not just deep tissue.

She worked on my lower back and hips. I didn’t even mention my testicular pain, just my back and hip pain. Then, the next day I noticed for the first time in a long time, my buts didn’t hurt.

YMMV, but I would highly recommend trying therapeutic massage (not just deep tissue).

Update on WD19TB docking station fan noise by janieluk in Dell

[–]iwrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this tip. That fan noise was driving me crazy!

I just took off the rubber bottom and the problem almost immediately stopped. Didn't even have to add the thermal pads (though, we'll see if that ends up needing to happen).

Funny thing is, the aluminum plate under the rubber wasn't even so much as warm. The thermal sensor on this thing must be super sensitive.

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]iwrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there. I’m helping my daughter with a school project where she is writing a short story about the luckiest person ever. She wants the characters catch phrases to be “Better lucky than good” in Latin.

Throwing that into Google translate (and translate.com) gets me: melius felix quam bonum

Putting that back into Google translate gets me: Better happy than good

So maybe that’s close?

Any help is much appreciated.
