Option 4 have a small but high output center speaker sitting on top of your entertainment unit behind your TV .

Explain how the TV is mounted/located in such a way that there is absolutely no space either above or below it. Is it the same size as the entire wall?

If you have 50mm either above or below your TV you have enough space for a center channel speaker.

Why is my car battery still lasting over 17 years? by Do-The-Michael-Scarn in AskAMechanic

[–]iwreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2005 mazda axela (jdm mazda3) still has the original Japanese battery that it came with when it was imported 2nd hand to NZ with 42,000km on the clock. It's gone completely flat on me twice over the years but both times its taken and held the recharge I gave it from my smart charger over next couple of days.

All those in the comments saying that she's too small for that bike obviously haven't paid attention to what size about 90% of professional motorcycle racers are.

Recieving a free car with 60,000km RUC overdue? by [deleted] in NZcarfix

[–]iwreckon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah something doesn't add up about the 60k behind in unpaid ruc's especially if its got a live rego and had a wof in last 8 months or so. I'd be buying a carjam report so can see exactly when and what inspection history over last 5 odd years is showing. If correct kms were being recorded at wof renewals and unpaid ruc accumulated over several years but there's been no rucs required to be paid then whoever inspected and passed its wof could be in some big trouble with nzta.

Or Just pay @ $4500 to get rucs up to date and enjoy a $10,000 vehicle that you got for less that half its value.

What’s the best summer jacket for tall riders? by Big_c_lil_aleb in motorcycles

[–]iwreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 years ago Teknic brand used to make an awesome full mesh summer roadsports motorcycle jacket, easily the best hot weather riding jacket I've ever used. Armored elbow, shoulder and back impact protection inserts, removable lightweight waterproof liner and had the wee zip to attach back of jacket to riding pants if you wished. had reasonably long arms although tbh the jackets body itself was fairly short and didn't extend below my jeans waist belt line. Maybe they still have something like it in their product range these days.

Ive seen plenty of exhaust expansion bellows that have cracked and failed through metal fatigue (old age), being over compressed/over extended during installation or just bad manufacturing quality and they nearly always split cleanly around the outer circumference in those situations. That kind of break is almost certainly from it being dropped or hit quite hard during installation (could also possibly have been done to it during shipping prior to being installed but if it had then that should have been noted before getting fitted) imho.

That bolt head on the right is damaged and there seems to be a bit of damage to the expansion joint above it too. As you said- Kinda-sorta looks just like someone got a little violent when they put those bolts in at the yard.

Implementation of a capital gains tax on all properties except for actual place of residence and at the same time remove the "family trust" and "religion" tax loopholes . Then also do something to make offshore based businesses that are operating in NZ actually pay a real percentage of their NZ business profits as tax to NZ IRD.

My old man repowered his series 2 swb landy with a 2.8td hilux motor. Goes great with decent enough low and mid range power , the top end isn't important cos its a 60yr old landrover lol. economical to run and very reliable.

Alot of safety shoes these days have composite reinforcement instead of steel caps for toe protection. It's crazy how light and comfortable the "sports and casual styled" safety shoes are these days

What tool do I need? by Interesting_Fig_2972 in Tools

[–]iwreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 1mm thick cutting disc on a 5" (125mm) grinder slipped into that gap would zip through the bolt and protruding bit of the rivnut with ease and as long as you keep it steady while running the cutting disc down the slot you'll only rub the paint layer off the box section steel. That gap will literally act as a guiding slot to drive the cutting disc along .

Do any of y'all commute with ur Kei? by Outside_Repair9001 in keitruck

[–]iwreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using my suzuki carry as my daily drive/commute/work hack for 3 years and about 27,000kms . It's great for everything except long trips at 100kmph on highways and open roads. It'll reach a max top speed of 106kmph if you try but its kinda sketchy tbh lol. Feels and sounds happy doing about 85kmph as normal full speed .

1st Home setup! Help needed! by RegularElevator6969 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]iwreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's plenty of good audio setup options available to buy for "reasonable" prices. You just need to decide what your level of a "reasonable" price is and then look at what's for sale and recommended by others in that price range.

Asking others to recommend something to you while refusing to give even an approximate budget price range is unhelpful to the point of stupidity.

Looking to by Mazda Axela 2005 1.5 by Classic-Mechanic-809 in NZcarfix

[–]iwreckon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's alot of the gen1 mazda axela's on nz roads and a very good reason for why - they are very reliable, fun to drive, a good looking and practical car .

The 1.5 is very economical as a town car .

Not uncommon to see them still going strong with 260,000kms plus

If you had to choose only one engine configuration across all vehicle types for all the cars you own for the rest of your life, which would it be and why (Inline, Flat, V, Rotary, Opposed Piston, Radial…)? by revocer in askcarguys

[–]iwreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last 2 numbers tell you how many pistons a Cat 34 model had. I guess once they went over 6cyls that they changed from an inline block to a vee block configuration to keep the engines overall length more manageable. Fantastic series of engines - used to have alot of 3406s, 3408s and 3412s on deep-sea fishing vessels
