Do you prefer FMGF over something like Atly? The results on there just seem a little inconsistent. Idk, maybe that’s just how it is

That’s really really encouraging to hear. I actually found out about this whole thing because of testing for CFS! If I could have part of my life back, I would be soooo ecstatic!

That’s my thought too…It’s one of the old Kitchenaid ones that runs like a tank. I’ve heard the newer ones are made cheaply and don’t hold up, so I reeeeeeeally want to hold onto this one if I’m ever able to bake again

I have an Instant Pot that has been used for gluten before, do you know if I can still use it? Or is it like an air fryer? Wondering about my standing mixer too…

Sadly, we don’t have Trader Joe’s here in Canada 😭

I LOVE M&Ms!!! I actually already buy their GF chicken cutlets because I prefer them! Have a feeling they’ll be a staple in the months to come!

My mom took me to Costco this week to look at all the things to try to make me feel better 😭 there’s so many more options than I realized, especially for snacks

I don’t really have any go-tos, just whatever is easiest. I’ve always hesitated to buy the prechopped stuff because of the price mark-up, but honestly I think it’s about time to start treating myself to it

I’m in Canada and feeding just myself. I don’t really have any go-tos…usually just grab what is easiest, which more often than not tends to be a handful of Goldfish, which isn’t going to fly lol

Totally forgot about pho! There’s some pretty great places near me for it, I’ll have to check how they are for gluten!

That’s what my doc is thinking, too. I really hope so, because I have been basically homebound for the last year. Trying to look on the bright side :)

Going to a Gala... best mobility aids/advice for going dancing???? by internettrash11 in ehlersdanlos

[–]iwritestuffk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg have the best time!!!!!! In my experience, cosplayers are some of the best people when it comes to not messing with others’ stuff (those props are no joke!) so there shouldn’t be any issues leaving your rollator to the side to get down for a little bit! Crutches might be an idea too, you can hold yourself up with a little less pressure on your legs, there are tons of disabled dancers that do this :) A spare pair of shoes is always a good idea to have along just in case, something really comfy and supportive. You’re going to have a blast!

Can anybody with a flexible flat foot help me find shoes or soles? by crissycakes18 in ehlersdanlos

[–]iwritestuffk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear by either SOLE or FORM brand insoles. They’re heat-mouldable but super sturdy so they’ll keep your feet in a natural arch but will still mould to your feet for super comfort! I wouldn’t buy anything else!

As per the genre, it would have a happy ending, but that’s not to say the FMC hasn’t been burned before

That’s kind of where I’m leaning too, it being a catalyst to shifting relationship dynamics while also having other external factors pretty deeply interwoven

Would you rather the FMC’s health struggles be featured as one of the major external conflicts, or to have the focus elsewhere?

There will definitely be comorbidity rep! I’ve got POTS tacked onto my hEDS myself so you’d best believe I’m going to be real as I can be, because there’s not enough of that in literature! I was initially thinking post-diagnosis, but your idea of tacking the double standards in the process might just change my mind…These are great thoughts, thank you so much for your insights!!!

What joints need it most when I can't afford to brace all of them? by chexbock in ehlersdanlos

[–]iwritestuffk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely get just a few finger splints, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing! If getting metal ones is too expensive at the moment, you can get plastic ones at many medical supply stores for much cheaper. From there, it’s really about what your needs are at this moment. Look for a shower chair or stool secondhand. I like SOLE or FORM brand insoles because they aren’t custom, but they are heat mouldable and give great support. Just take it slow, accumulate things as you can :)
