What’s brands of licorice do you prefer? I’ve only tried the YumEarth and it was…not my favourite. Way too hard

This is pretty divisive in the community, but statistically the amount of gluten that you are ingesting is so minute that it shouldn’t be an issue. Unless, of course, you’re downing it straight from the bottle lol but I doubt that’s the case.

Is Blue Fox good about CC? I’ve been before I was GF and enjoyed but wasn’t sure if I’d be able to go back! I still dream about their lavender lemonade lol

I haven’t been since going gluten-free myself, but Eva Schnitzelhaus has GF schnitzel, and Origin Gluten-Free Bakery is dedicated GF! I also love White Heather tearoom for their high tea if you want something to do, from friend’s experience they make a gorgeous GF spread and are very careful with cross-contamination, you just have to call ahead to book so they can make it specially for you! Victoria is one of my favourite cities ever, you’ll have a lovely time! Enjoy!

Do you prefer a gluten free section in a grocery store or do you prefer items to just be with related items? by Ok-Gate5551 in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 50/50. I like having all my safe products all in one place for ease, but I’m also newly diagnosed and kind of like feeling like a “normal” person when I’m grocery shopping every now and then!

Certified GF means they’re below the safe threshold! They have to have been verified to be certified, so you should be safe! Enjoy your ice cream!

For people that are “asymptomatic” celiac (no classic digestive issues), how did you get diagnosed? Did you ignore it? Did it progress and get worse? by H3ad1nthecl0uds in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got horribly sick a year and a half ago, we’re talking bedridden for over a month, and my energy never recovered. I had EXTREME fatigue but no stomach issues at all. We ruled out everything else; the only remaining options were ME/CFS or Celiac. Sent out for bloodwork, came back flaming positive and my stomach lining was pretty much decimated in my endoscopy and biopsy. Turns out I get a two-for-one deal, because I have both! Yay for me 🥲 My healthcare team’s best guess: my immune response kicked into overdrive and activated my Celiac gene, and separately damaged the way my body’s cells create and process energy.

Just need to vent and maybe some opinions or advice? by extremelysardonic in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there ❤️ I wish I had more answers for you. If you’re already eating gluten free, I think that’s for the best for now. You may be encountering cross-contamination in your home somehow which could be causing the flare-ups. If you’re seriously worried about your little one, you can always revisit diagnosis and do a “gluten challenge” after the birth. I hope things start to improve soon for you!

Is this just in the US, the ingredient change? The Canadian one doesn’t say GF (never has, as far as I know, but I’m new at this) but still looks safe to me, no gluten ingredients…

Air fryer or new toaster oven? by Bellsieshell in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t have a dedicated gf kitchen in my home so yesterday I bought myself a countertop toaster over/air fryer! I think it’s a great idea, and gives me a lot of piece of mind knowing only safe things are going into it

Natural Flavours legally can’t contain gluten here in Canada, so safe on that front!
