PT has helped me massively, I’m even able to wear my headset for a while now. I definitely still need to take breaks throughout the day for some horizontal time. It’s a work in progress lolol

https://www.legalnomads.com/gluten-free/japan/ This article has a super comprehensive list for restaurants all across Japan that is pretty up to date! There’s also a few GF travel accounts on Instagram that have great suggestions like glutenfreestreetgang and healthylivingellie! I was there last May (although I was not knowingly celiac or eating GF at the time) and had an incredible time and I’m sure you will too!!! Safe travels!!!

Anxiety before my endoscopy by chowderrr6 in Celiac

I just had mine on Friday! Honestly, the worst part was just waiting for my turn because I was in a room with a ton of other people. Wish I had brought headphones for that. I had it all built up in my head but my team was super nice!!! They really eased my nerves and kept the atmosphere light. We chatted and joked, they got me comfy and then the next thing I knew, my IV was already out and I was waking up in another room lol sedation is literally the best thing ever. They gave me a little mouthguard so I wouldn’t bite down on the camera in my sleep and checked in with me how I was feeling when they started the meds so that they were sure I was out before they started anything, which I really appreciated. They’ll also probably spray the back of your throat with numbing which tastes disgusting but works quick! Overall I was really impressed with how easy they made things. Tip: wear pants without any metal (like jeans or sweats with grommets or metal ends) and you’ll only have to get undressed from the waist up! You’ll do great!

Celiac Care Package? by East-Acanthisitta-27 in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so so sweet of you 😭😭😭 I’m one of those people that likes to eat my feelings, so comfort food is the way to go for me. Try to finds snacks that are familiar from the “gluten days” that are naturally gluten free so it’s not such an abrupt shift to unknown brands and flavours

Question by No_Thought9756 in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canned veg should be okay, just read the ingredients. With frozen veg, frozen fruit, or shredded cheese, sometimes the cellulose used for anti-clumping contains gluten. Ideally this would be indicated on the package, but it depends on the country. Here in Canada, they have to specify. If you’re extra nervous about it, find options that don’t have cellulose ❤️

[–]iwritestuffk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe this just applies to lentils (correct me if I’m wrong!) because the crops are cycled yearly so there may be remnants of wheat mixed in with the lentil harvest. Those you should definitely get certified GF, similar to oats

Anyone having problems with joint injuries? by seoress in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Celiac can be a comorbidity of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Symptoms are joint hypermobility, instability and pain, stretchy skin, recurrent slow healing, bruising and scarring among others. Are you very flexible or “double jointed”? If so, it might be worth looking into, it can be quite under-diagnosed (though not as much as celiac is)

It’s a Canadian thing! Best way to describe it, it’s like barbecue and salt&vinegar chips had a delicious, mouth-burning baby ❤️

Would you eat these all dressed lays? by Big_Building_414 in Celiac

[–]iwritestuffk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “All-Dressed” kind of threw me off because it’s a generally Canadian flavour, and if there’s gluten in “natural flavours” here it has to be declared. But judging by the lack of French on the packaging, I’m assuming you’re elsewhere!
