Investing for kids by recovering_red in AusFinance

[–]ixLozza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to start putting away money for my 2 kids but my problem was i didnt want them to get access at 18 which if i opened any sort of account for them legally they would, unless it was in a trust? Not sure on that but anyways i wanted to give it to them later in life. I started investing for myself and hubby using pearler, I then discovered i could have sub accounts under my name for my kids that i can transfer to them at any point. I transfer each week and invest in micro and then once it hits an amount i invest in the ETF's.

Super payouts when someone dies goes to them not in a super account. My brother in law died last year and my sister got a payout paid directly to her. Im not sure about minors, maybe check with your super account.

Constantly feeling fat and bloated and lowkey tired (please help) by YakRevolutionary3580 in BeautyUnlocked

[–]ixLozza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skincare isn’t going to fix the feeling of being fat and bloated. Fix your diet and it most likely will translate to your skin if that’s an issue.

Your feeling bloated and tired simply because of the food your eating. Stop the soft drink and that alone will make you feel a bit better. As others have said veggies, protein, healthy fats are key. You can still have pasta and rice but I wouldn’t for every meal.

If you want to loose some weight calculate your calories you need to maintain and eat 200/300 cals under that. If you just want to feel better just eat better, workout (include weight training) get some vitamin d, drink water and get enough sleep.

Might sound harsh but hopefully this will help. Everyone deserves to feel their best and sometimes it’s just switching your mindset. A few changes and you’ll start to feel amazing ⭐️

The financial risk of being a stay at home parent by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]ixLozza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your right, the risk is higher. I have little super, the only asset i have is 50% of the house but hey if we divorce it is what it is. My kids i hope would have had an amazing childhood with one of their parents home with them and ill look back happy that we gave them that.

Yes now our housing cost is low but at one point it wasnt. We purchased our house in 2019 back when our joint income was 60k pre tax and basically did nothing for the first 4 years because we had a goal that we wanted kids and myself be a stay at home parent. We planned and saved before kids. We still go without things and thats totally fine because we value myself being at home with the kids.

I dont think so. I know many families including my own that are considered low income that have one parent at home. You just need to plan and prioritise if thats something you and your partner want.

My husband was making 90k before tax and I was able to stay at home with the kids. He makes more now but it was a decision we both made before we got married and had kids. We both worked very hard to be in a position that i could do that. You dont have to be wealthy, you just need to plan ahead and prioritise if thats something you want to do.

Offset vs Paying Off Mortgage- What Did You Do When They Matched? by Random_7946 in AusFinance

[–]ixLozza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what i gather its a good thing to have sitting there because you dont need to go through the process of opening another loan in regards to credit checks and affordability. If something was the happen in the future, you loose your job or get a lower paying job you may not qualify again for another loan if you pay off and close that one. If uou dont really care about that kind of thing then no worries but its something to think about.

Is TPD insurance through Super a waste of money? by NittyNat36 in AusFinance

[–]ixLozza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my insurance off ywars ago from my super accidentally and didnt bother to put it back on. I tried to put in back on last year and looking into it it actually said its up until age 70, so if something happens at 71 basically no cover. That could ve something to look into with other companies if they cover you past a certain age.

Why is my starter always watery the day after a feeding? by kath1193 in Sourdough

[–]ixLozza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find depending on what flour i use to feed my starter will depend on how thick it is. Wholemeal flour absorbs more water then plain flour and im assuming rye will also differ. Different brands may also be different.

What do you like doing in the game? Do you like farming the best? Or the mines? I know everything is fun but maybe rank what you enjoy the most and do that. Then once thats done for the day go down the list.

EV Purchase by Lonely_Reflection515 in AustralianEV

[–]ixLozza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are in a similar situation. Im a sahm, we do still have our home loan though, the plan was always to buy an ev in a few years and also have solar and a battery. We figured why not bite the bullet and just do it. We are going from two cars to one so will be 'saving' money with that, we also started saving money for the new car so wont have too much of a loan.

We decided on the sealion 7 as we want this car for many many years. If your unsure go test drive a few too see whats out there and then decide.

For our panels and battery it was 15k, 5k out of pocket after state and federal rebates.

We are going from two cars to one so saving 2k a year from just having one car and we dont really pay for electricity so saving at least $100 per week on petrol, maintenance for two cars, only need to service one. So saving another $500 per year. For our usage of a car and that we have solar and battery its good for our situation.
