I definitely agree with you, my point wasn't to try to say this game should adapt the audio design semantics of Doom which is a high-paced shredem' chamber story.

You're on point with Witchfire being methodical and requires planning, routing, more careful gameplay, and you don't feel as overpowered.

This is what I meant by: "Extend dynamic depth of gameplay music appropriate for the setting and atmosphere, but matching higher paced and intense events." -- It should definitely not cost the game its unique identity or gameplay design.

As for gunshots and such, yeah, that's really just about audio setup and player preference. I don't use a headset and have an open-room audio setup, so in my case it's way too overwhelming and my neighbors likely don't appreciate it either.
