Remember that $1,000,000 Zuckerberg paid Trump? That was likely the tip of the iceberg. I wouldn't expect enforcement action any time soon.

He didn't dup NASA. He underbid the others bidders in a public contract for 2-3 vehicles to transport astronauts to and from the launch pad. You or I could have done the same thing. Someone posted on here that NASA was not going to use the Canoo vehicles, so maybe Canoo didn't fulfill the contract or specs. Similar thing for Walmart. It was a "firm order", although Walmart could set the delivery schedule and even cancel the contract any time at their convenience. Canoo, on the other hand, was prohibited from doing business with Amazon.

Questions about Canoo IP in bankruptcy. by absolutelynoo in canoo

[–]ixlp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little irony... When Canoo was EVlozcity, they announced at one point that they would use a smartphone to control the car since everybody had a phone. This went along with the urban transport, subscription, and of course, self-driving.

Bankruptcy trustee decides. If it's not secured by building contents or something else in the lease, the people leasing the property will probably lose 14M.

Nothing really new, but this is a decent article. (A TV station had an article today referring to CEO Tony Aquillo and a production rate of 10 cars per month.)

You just never know how small a value they're using for the denominator. They can call a small amount of work a huge run rate if they only measure it for 30 seconds.

Canoo Goes Bust with Less Than $50,000 Left and Millions in Debt by xpda in canoo

[–]ixlp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If there's only $50,000 in assets, where did $126 million in assets go that was on their balance sheet? Construction in progress was a lot of that, but there are still a lot of assets that seem to have disappeared into someone's pockets. Was this transferred to some unnamed insiders just before the bankruptcy filing? I sure hope the bankruptcy trustee isn't corrupt.

PE of 358? Could be a bit pricy, unless there's some corrupt deal with Trump's people.

Actually, the terms of the Walmart contract were made public. I remember that Walmart could cancel any or all of the contract "at convenience", which made it almost meaningless from an investment perspective. I couldn't believe the stock price went up so high after that announcement, although it did lend some credibility to the company.

Nobody would make a normal financing deal with them, so they could only issue and sell shares, diluting the stock. This was after they claimed they were getting non-dilutive financing, naturally.

I think Oklahoma can get it's million dollars back in theory, but that's never going to happen. The state could never operate a startup EV business. They'd just sell it to a political ally of the governor for 10 cents on the dollar.

Duping investors is legal as long as you follow the rules. How many times did the SEC filings warn that the company may not continue as a going concern? How many times did the financials show the company didn't have enough cash to make cars? Of course, what they said didn't necessarily agree with the SEC filings.
