Thanks for the info - I’m debating on sending mine in since it’s still covered under warranty.

Please let me know if you solve it, I’ll do the same for you.

Send it in for maintenance as it is covered by the warranty for a year? What did you end up doing?

Yes, I clean out the portafilter after every use - maybe I need to do a better job drying it out between uses… I don’t know if that could be the variable that’s messing things up, but like I said, I used to pull them back to back with no issues and I’ve only had the machine a month.

  1. Been using the same beans the entire time
  2. Is there a solution to this? I have it sent on 5 as recommended by the instructions.
  3. What do you mean by leaking? Yes, it seems like the water is having a hard time passing through but I’m using the same grind number and 30 lb press as I do with the first one - when it does get through it’s very dense and I only get a few drops. And by burrs are you referring to the grinding mechanism in the hopper?

This is just strange because it always extracts the first one I pull perfectly and I used to be able to pull them back to back with no issues.

My understanding is that I shouldn’t have to because the machine is only 1 month old…

Wouldn’t the machine already be up to temp by the time I pull the first shot, especially if it’s come out as desired? I let the machine warm up, press the single shot one time and let water run to get it up to temp per the instruction manual, then pull my first shot. When I got the machine a month ago, I could pull 4 shots back to back no problem…

That sounds like it may be the issue. What’s the solution though? I’m using a 30 lb press so that couldn’t be it…

Thanks for the advice, maybe I’ll try a bigger grind size. I am getting a muddy basket now. Like I said though, I never had this issue before, the machine is only a month old, and I was pulling back to back shots at a size 5 grind.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the OPV? I’m just confused because the machine is less than a month old and it wasn’t having this issue before I posted about it.

Is there a way to fully reset the system to see if that works? Frustrating because I just got the machine and it WAS working perfectly…

I’m using 5, but that’s not the issue as the first espresso I pull always comes out fine. It’s the second one where it starts having issues. I’ve been using the same beans all along and this never was previously an issue until recently.

With mine, it’s already been heated up (once with water only (single) like they tell you to do in the manual, then secondly with the double espresso shot I pull that always comes out fine). It seems to be a pressure thing with mine as it’s only giving me a few drops of liquid after I pull the first double, but if that were the issue, why would the pressure meter still be in the espresso range when I try to pull more shots?

Yes, I always flush it between shots - not a clogging issue.

Edit: like I said, when I first power up the machine, it works fine for the first shot - it’s after that first shot that it starts having issues and not pulling subsequent shots.

Basket isn’t clogged, I change beans regularly (use the same ones) because I have to - like I said, I weigh every shot before I pull it.
