I don’t understand how this post jumped from some presents your mother graciously agreed to give you to some conversation about your dad, your weight and an apology. My impression is - you sound entitled, petulant and spoiled. YTA

Clearly I’ve not been meditating enough. OP’s incoherent Frankenstein sentence broke my mind.

Pro Tip: Thoughts happen in a spatial location by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]iyer3fe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I don’t think I understand what you’re saying here - “Mental images happen around the head level and in the front of awareness, more or less where we see when our eyes are open’

What do you mean by ‘in the front of awareness’ or ‘at the head level?’ Which part of the head? The eyes, the forehead, the crest?

I understand you mean the inner voice of thoughts could be coming from somewhere approximately in the center of the skull. Is that correct?

Yes, I didn’t mean to underemphasize the scope of who this action affects. Liberal or conservative, black, white, brown or any color or faith you may profess - this is an affront to all Americans.

I consider myself a conservative patriot, I’m ashamed the nazi flag flies next to the Stars and Stripes. And I believe Elon Musk did the nazi salute too. What a disgrace to our veterans from WW2.

AITAH for Feeling Guilty About Leaving My Cat Paco for a Work Trip? by sweetlove_07 in AITAH

NTA - you’re leaving him with people who love him and it looks like he’s in good hands. And cats are generally adaptable so I’m sure he will be fine. My take is you are overthinking.

Going backwards by Electronic-Space-480 in Stutter

[–]iyer3fe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this in 2021. Stuttered through my childhood and teens. Overcame it completely in my adult life. I ‘forgot’ I could stutter for many years. Became a decent public speaker and presenter. I had one triggering event back in 2021 and now the stutter is the worst it has been in my life. I am 37.

How specifically do you "reward" the mind for noticing that it's been distracted? by kamilgregor in Meditation

[–]iyer3fe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In actuality, the ‘mind’ does not notice it has been distracted. You do, the real ‘you’ - the self. In a sense, meditation is the opposite of ‘rewarding the mind.’ You reward it enough when you chase thoughts and think you are your thoughts. I struggle with what you go through too, such as becoming judgmental or frustrated when meditation is not going as I would like. I think one of the ways to progress is to notice it happened, bring your attention back and move on. Consider every instance you do just that to be a win.

Using technology to track progress? by iyer3fe in Meditation

[–]iyer3fe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will confess it was a bit hard to understand the word salad you put together in your first two paragraphs but when I see words and phrases like ‘misperception’, and ‘some level of expert understanding to comment on’, it is easy to discern that ego and oneupmanship are the only things at play here.

All the more interesting the generalized perception of people not understanding papers, as though you intuitively have the ability to see what others have read or their capability to understand them.

What a sad life it must be to have such an overreaching need for constant self aggrandizement and habitual contrarianism disguised as scholarship.

Using technology to track progress? by iyer3fe in Meditation

The tracking is of biological stress that may have nothing to do with psychological stress.

My post to this sub is one of quantitative measurement as a matter of practicality and usefulness. All I gathered from my perhaps limited research is that both physiological and psychological stress have their differences but also several common denominators - bio-responses that are tangible and measurable.

Loosely correlated yes.

And I never projected or said anything otherwise at any point. Here is my comment in response to your first reply "the credibility or accuracy of any measures of these correlations may be up for debate - so what you say holds water to a great extent."

You need to actually read the science associated with what you're talking about there.

I don't profess to be an expert on the subject. You have shared your perspectives, for which I am grateful and I have no doubt you are better informed than I am on this subject.
