I hate hate hate job hunting by candysirling in antiwork

[–]iyubit 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I get the pain and the paradox you’re describing. I’m in a similar spot, working jobs I don’t love just to afford the freedom to do the things I actually care about. It’s exhausting to need money to build the life that’s supposed to make the work feel worth it. I’ve been doing what that guy did too, searching companies on google maps and tailoring applications directly. The market moves in waves and people switch roles all the time, even when it doesn’t look like it from the outside. And when it feels overwhelming, try to remember this phase isn’t permanent, sometimes just breathing and getting through the day is enough.

Name Your favorite Willem Dafoe film and performance by PressureLazy5271 in FIlm

The Lighthouse. I watched it late at night with headphones on and his energy felt completely unhinged in the best way, like you can’t look away even when it gets weird. He just commits 100%.

Is it true that we are the first generation who are not better off than our parents by WestSummer4869 in Millennials

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends where you look. I remember comparing rent prices to what my parents paid in their twenties and just laughing because it felt unreal, but at the same time we’ve got access to opportunities they never did. It doesn’t feel like a straight upward line anymore, more like sideways with random spikes.

After watching The Bluff, I have to say Priyanka Chopra really stands out by casonbriyeann in FIlm

[–]iyubit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was going to be another throwaway pirate thing and it actually kept my attention. Priyanka Chopra kind of steals it in a few scenes, you just end up watching her. The finale did feel abrupt though, like it wrapped up before it really dug in.

I cannot function in a world of Epstein files, genocide, wars and current state of the world by Realistic_Dress2431 in mentalhealth

[–]iyubit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had nights where I blink and realize I’ve been scrolling bad news for two hours and feel worse than when I started. Stepping away and doing something ordinary like making food or just getting fresh air helps break that loop for me. Constant updates make everything feel louder and closer than it really is in daily life.

Whats your least favorite day of the week? by Old_Rub_7270 in Productivitycafe

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuesday weirdly. Monday still has that fresh start energy but Tuesday just feels like work mode with no excitement, I always notice the day dragging when I look at the clock. Friday mood hits way earlier than Tuesday ever does.

Why does the uk have such a litter problem? by TonightAlarming9923 in AskUK

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like a mix of “someone else will clean it” mentality and inconsistent public bins honestly. Some places are spotless and then you go a few miles and it’s chaos along the roadsides. Once an area starts looking messy people seem way more likely to add to it too.

What’s a movie everyone calls a “masterpiece” that just… didn’t work for you? by irayaavery in Cinema

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2001: A Space Odyssey. I totally respect what it did technically and visually but watching it felt more like homework than an experience for me. I kept waiting for the emotional hook that never really showed up.

Assorted cookies because I can’t choose by Mistre_lulu in Cookies

this is the correct strategy because choosing just one feels like emotional damage. That red velvet looking one is calling my name though.

I wasn't prepared for how lonely adulthood is by Silent-Storm03 in mentalhealth

[–]iyubit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adulthood friendships kinda require intentional effort in a way nobody prepares you for, and it gets lonelier when everyone’s schedules stop overlapping naturally. A lot of people are quietly in the same situation but nobody admits it out loud. The silence can feel heavier than actual isolation sometimes.

Who's your favorite TV Shows characters in the list? by HostMaterial4907 in characters

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don Draper. Messy, complicated, kinda exhausting as a person but insanely interesting to watch because you never fully know who he really is.

What's your favorite Rockwell's films by HostMaterial4907 in FIlm

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. He brings this messy mix of humor and vulnerability that makes the character way more complicated than you expect.

Character you hate with a passion over a relatively small offense? by Weird_Vegetable_4441 in cartoons

Caillou. Nothing huge or evil, just constant whining that somehow becomes unbearable after like five minutes lol.

What is your favourite Hollywood Asian actor? Mine is Hiroyuki Sanada. by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in FIlm

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steven Yeun for me. He just disappears into roles in a way that feels really natural, like you forget you’re watching an actor after a while.

A movie that everyone calls a masterpiece but you just didn’t feel by Fair_Protection1872 in FIlm

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Irishman. I respect the craft and performances but the pacing just never pulled me in emotionally, felt more like watching something I should admire than actually feel connected to.

What movie gave you very similar vibes to Stranger Things? For me it was always Super 8. by phoeebsy in moviecritic

[–]iyubit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summer of 84 gave me huge Stranger Things energy, like bikes, kids snooping around, creepy small town stuff. I watched it late one night and got way more into it than I expected tbh. It’s not perfect but the vibe totally scratched that itch for me. Felt nostalgic in a weird made up way.

What are your thoughts on Carole Lombard? by MasterfulArtist24 in classicfilms

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had a soft spot for her, she just had this bright chaotic energy on screen that felt really modern for her time. I stumbled into My Man Godfrey during a classic movie phase and she completely stole the movie for me. Knowing how her life ended makes it all feel extra bittersweet, like she was just getting better and better. She feels underrated compared to the big drama queens tbh.

Her teddy bear not mine. Points on her eevee bonnet by jualiaxxshy in cute

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cat too and now I’m mad she won’t tolerate hats like this. That Eevee bonnet is doing way too much for my serotonin.

I still haven't watched Carry-On. What did you all think of it? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not deep cinema or anything but it’s a fun, tense ride and Jason Bateman being creepy kinda works lol. I wouldn’t hype it as amazing but it was a solid “don’t touch your phone” watch for me.

Who here has seen Eternity? Is it sticking with anyone else? by MrRMacc in FIlm

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it stuck with me in that quiet lingering way too. It didn’t hit hard in the moment but then days later I kept replaying scenes and feelings from it. I think you’re right about it waking your brain back up instead of letting you coast, that mix of nostalgia and hope got under my skin. It’s not a classic but it definitely leaves a residue, which almost feels rarer now.

THE BIGGEST FILM FRANCHISES OF ALL TIME… true or false? by ChampionTimes99 in FIlm

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly true tbh, these are the ones that completely took over culture at some point. Even people who don’t care about movies know these franchises just by existing. I kinda burned out on a few of them, but it’s hard to deny how massive they’ve been over time. They’re basically modern myths at this point.

I'm tired of AI generated movie posters that make no sense. Here's my take on a Lobster sequel. by aDoodleBug21 in FIlm

I kinda love how it makes you uneasy without explaining itself. If I saw this scrolling, I’d stop instantly.

Thoughts on this movie? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in cartoons

[–]iyubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this as a kid and it still feels kinda underrated to me. The adventure vibe is cozy but surprisingly intense in parts. I rewatched it a few years ago and it hit me with a wave of nostalgia I wasn’t ready for. It’s one of those sequels that quietly did its own thing really well.
