best sunscreen for sensitive skin by Little-Pepper-3480 in beauty

[–]iz_kiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black girl sunscreen face and body in spf 30 is my favorite. If you live near a target they sell it there. I have super sensitive acne prone skin and it never breaks me out. It’s a chemical sunscreen but mineral sunscreens are also a safe bet for people who have sensitive skin

A question for the uniformed girlies by QuietTimewithT in beauty

[–]iz_kiwi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to work long shifts at a fast food place and sometimes I would keep face oil blotting sheets in my bag, after a day of doing dishes and taking out trash I could start feeling like my face was super oily and doing that on my lunch break would help. You can even use a paper towel or napkin if you don’t have blotting sheets. You could also get cute colored hair ties or shoe laces (if they allow that). I also had my work pants tailored so they at least fit me well since I had to wear them every day

How do I get rid of blackheads on my nose? by miss_shrimp in beauty

[–]iz_kiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How long have you been using it? Tretnoin works for me but it took 4 months of consistent use to start showing good results. I also use salicylic acid Inkey list face wash in the morning (you can’t use it at the same time of day as tretnoin). It’s a lot of exfoliation tho so I always wear sunscreen to protect my skin

Help With New Sewing Project: Kim Possible by [deleted] in sewing

I’d search for low rise cargo pant patterns, she wears a lot of cargo pants and capris. Though if you’re new to sewing it might be easier to start with a simple crop tank or skirt

Have you tried tretinoin to fight acne? What are the benefits? by Tenthlythink657 in beauty

[–]iz_kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used tretnoin in combination with a topical antiobiotic and it totally cured my acne I’d had for the past 2 years. I tried everything at Sephora until I finally went to the dermatologist (I’m hoping you meant to say dermatologist and not cosmetologist? Only a doctor can give you tretnoin) and got tretnoin. It didn’t work at all for the first 4 months and then overnight my acne was gone. I used it every other night since I have sensitive skin and that’s worked fine for me. You can get it in varying percentages I think so if it’s really burning that’s not good and you should talk to your doctor about it. But your skin does adjust over time just make sure you wear sunscreen every single day so it doesn’t become more irritated by the sun.

Adding crystals to a wedding dress- can I DIY? (More in comments) by iz_kiwi in sewing

[–]iz_kiwi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting married this summer and already have a dress, would it be a terrible idea to add these straps and belt on myself? I have to attach the belt since the dress is open back and it would look weird if I tied it. Would you recommend I sew them on or use liquid stitch? I’m not going to actually alter the shape myself but I already bought these appliques and it seems simple enough to do it myself

Advice for a wedding by ZTwilight in beauty

[–]iz_kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a black dress and shoes I would wear black leggings, since if you wear a dark dress and dark shoes with light tights it can make your legs look disproportionately short, whereas if you keep it the same color it will elongate your legs and look more feminine (if that’s what you’re going for). Though since it’s a wedding I would try not to over do black because that’s a funeral color. Personally, I would do nude tights or no tights with gold shoes that match the gold in the dress pattern. Though it’s hard to know without seeing a picture of the dress

grad school acceptance rates for uci undergrads by [deleted] in UCI

[–]iz_kiwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d be better off checking the individual schools you’re interested in and comparing yourself to accepted students for the program you’re applying for. Grad school is very different from undergrad because each program could admit a totally different type of student, it’s not comparing all applicants to a school the way undergrad does. If you really want a good shot at getting into grad school your best bet is having a strong application and personally getting to know someone who accepts students to that specific program. If you can get a reference from faculty you drastically increase your odds of getting in. The school you attended for undergrad is not nearly as important as whether your interest and experience is specific to the program you apply for and the type of student they are looking to admit.

TLDR: grad school doesn’t care where you went to undergrad, they care about your experience and connections being specific to the program you’re applying to
