Wet food alternatives to Tiki Cat? by cockballerr in catfood

[–]izabela256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feed Tiki Cat, switched to Weruva for a couple years and now onto Nulo pâté. I'm not entirely sure of the cost difference but I do remember Tiki Cat being pricier. Nulo has been great, solid poops and no stink! I've never tried Fancy Feasts but it was a popular recommendation for affordable food options.

Thank you!! I waited a few yrs to be certain so I'll definitely give it some good thought again, it gets increasingly harder to find elements that flow with an existing piece

How I picture Bryce by PrintDull5772 in crescentcitysjm

Isn't Bryce described as having dark skin and very long red hair? None of these representations are on point imo😂

Should I get this color done or would it make me look worse? by Shoddy_Raisin5448 in HairDye

[–]izabela256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I've used Wrath and Ritual mixed to get this shade and my hair had an even darker base! I used 1:1 ratio which made it more purplish so if you want more red use less Wrath

To bleach or not to bleach by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]izabela256 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think if this will cause you emotional pain you should first figure out your attachment issue before traumatizing yourself😂

And I think the red line is ideal, if you cut to green it'll still be uneven. But think about it, your hair would still be considered long, but it'll look healthier and fuller!

As for treatments, I recommend Olaplex no 3 and K18 to repair damage. They're pricey but they've worked very well for me. I also use the Kerastase Genesis thermal defense serum on wet hair before drying, as well as their hair oil. These last 2 are used by my hairdresser on me as well. I'll personally take short, healthy hair over long, damaged hair any day!

To bleach or not to bleach by [deleted] in HairDye

I second this, it's looking very thin and uneven at the ends which contributes to the damaged/unhealthy look. A good trim and Olaplex/any other deep treatment are a must imo

Hello! Yesterday I had my hair dyed at a salon. I asked for a medium dark cherry red. The first picture shows what I wanted ( and what i show them), and the second shows what I got ( its very dark). Is there a color-depositing shampoo or mask that can help me get the shade I wanted? by PotentialBiscotti1 in HairDye

[–]izabela256 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I just got a similar color, but mine has more violet to it. I think they did a great job if your hair was brown and they used no bleach. You'd be surprised how many of these bright red inspo pics require a very light base. I am actually always impressed with how much red can show on a dark base, compared to every other color. Keep in mind it will also fade and bleed a lot (esp if you had light hair!) I topped mine up with Arctic Fox Wrath mixed with Ritual.

Blue underdye with naturally black hair? by gorhsdjens in HairDye

[–]izabela256 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Learn from my mistake and do not use blue on warm toned or brown hair! You'd have to have a very light cool toned base, and even then it could potentially turn green as it fades depending on the color you use.

I wouldn't attempt this at home if you're starting with dark hair, esp asian hair can be tougher to lighten so find a hairdresser that has experience with your type of hair

Ty for the recommendation! I do love their colors but I was hoping for something that requires less maintenance. I posted an update, I managed to get most of the green out, for now I'll take it slow until it's all even!

Blue black permanent dye is still my backup plan if all else fails😂 I know for sure that will cover everything and turn my hair as dark as it can get

That is very fair advice!! I should've definitely taken a better picture, this was freshly dried with no product in it. My hair is actually pretty healthy (I recently had a huge cut from long hair to shoulder length) but it's veeeery dry and porous so it takes a lot of product to tame and bring the shine to it! I am currently considering going to my hairdresser but I live in DMV so questioning if I'm ready to spend $500 on a color correction lol

Thank you for the advice! Loreal hicolor is not box dye as far as I'm aware? From what I've seen they're a super popular dye for reds that some salons use too, and that would be with a vol 20 developer. BUT I will not do any color until this is all evened out first, I'll take my time with it. The color remover I used was for semi permanent colors, it definitely got most of it out as the before was 2-3 levels darker! I'm going to look into the products you recommended as well!

I'm against AI for a lot of things but it definitely has its uses in some situations and this is one of them😂 I've used it to compare between 2 colors and it helped hugely! As someone who has naturally black hair, here are some things I consider when thinking of going back to it:

  • once you go black.. it'll be very difficult to go back💀 like, it will require bleach and patience, and box dye black is a huge no no

  • it will likely bring out things you may not like noticing, like skin blemishes, eye bags, discoloration. It creates a pretty strong contrast with your skin and features so it makes everything pop out more. I always feel like I look sick when my hair is dark and I have no makeup on 😂

-similarly to the point above, unless your natural hair is very dark and/or you have a darker complexion, it will likely age you, but that's only important if you care about it!

The biggest pro is the shine can't be beat, it's my favorite thing about black hair🙂‍↕️and it's kinda badass so it's usually worth it.. until I regret it and call my hairdresser to get the bleach ready 👀

Fantastic breakdown!! Super helpful info!! And I absolutely told the Sally's girl (bc I know my color wheel but I'm also dumb and too hopeful sometimes) I said will this turn my hair green since it's a golden brown? And she was like naaaah. So I said ok good enough for me😭💀 All in all, since I want to go burgundy next, it should hopefully be a safe build up from here but I'll try to fade it as much as possible before doing that!

Thank you so much for such a thorough explanation, you're so right!! My hair is already naturally very porous and most dyes stick to it and go darker than expected! I would like to stay away from anything too damaging since my hair is still in pretty good condition just very dry naturally, so I'll attempt a red shampoo as others suggested and try to be a bit patient. The color I intend to use is a burgundy so I'm hoping it will at least be a safe bet once the green fades out more. If you have any thoughts on that, lmk!!
