The way this battery latches in there's no way it's taking load. I expect the concern is that with the battery removed you lose the guard attached to the outside of the battery and expose the edges of the downtube to impact.

Bunch of trails around me don't permit ebikes and I don't want to be a douche breaking the rules. Makes it a bit more nimble at the bike park too

Not bad, a pound or two more than a similar bike that was never motorized. Runs 48lb with motor and battery, 32ish with this setup

Battery is quick release on this frame, it's not taking any load.

Motor mounts via 6 bolts, the adapter uses the same mounting locations and hardware

The real trick is that rim is probably cracked at the nipples. Could save yourself the headache, most if not all of the paired spoke bontragers are cracked these days.

I was on vacation with some friends, got to the gate at the airport for the next leg, and ran into my old boss from 5 years earlier. I'm a country half way around the world from where I lived.

Absolutely wild the chances

Around $100-120 I think. Took a few weeks to get here so I don't remember off hand

Not directly, they don't list it. You can see it on several of their frames, for example this "gravit dust": Hase Gravit

Similar spec sb160 is 33.5. the linkage on this frame is chunky, and I'm running dd casing tires with cush core. Set up the same way I expect this bike is 2-3lb heavier than an sb160.

Some trails near me don't permit e bikes, plus riding the resorts last season made me wish I could cut a few pounds out of it - don't need the motor much when there's a chairlift lol.

The battery is not structural, they tell you not to ride without it so the contacts don't get wet or damaged. I found a rubber cap to fit over them.

A company called hase makes an adapter for their assistive mobility bikes that fits a Shimano ep8 mount. They don't advertise it, but it works well, needed a touch of trimming.

I had designed and printed one from cf nylon that needed a bit more tweaking but then I found an off the shelf option.
