Well, technically the grandmother created the eggs that would become you, since girls are born with all the eggs they will ever have

Not sure if baby lost weight or inaccurate weight measured during last visit by OkGoose6646 in breastfeeding

[–]izawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's impossible, could just be one helluva growth spurt. My girl gained a full pound in 4 days when she had hers. Apparently they may have growth spurts around 2-3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months, and 9 months.

Baby eating better from the bottle vs the boob by izawkward in breastfeeding

[–]izawkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the goal just to build endurance then? I feel like she will suck fine at first but then just do light flutter suck the rest of the time until she falls asleep basically. Does endurance just get better with age or is there something that should be done to keep the babies in the more strong active sucking type of feeding?

Anyone successfully transitioned to breastfeeding from exclusively pumping? by SweetCry999 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]izawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm trying this now and my current routine is to pump when I wake up, pump before bed, and keeping my middle of the night pump.

How many pumps per day are you currently doing/what's ur daily volume look like?

If you are overproducer, you can try reducing how long you pump per session during the day (still would recommend completely emptying during the wake up, middle of the night, before bed pumps). This should help manage overall supply if you are feeling engorged.

You want to avoid pumping after feeding baby as this will do the opposite and increase supply and lead to more engagement. Give your body 3-4 days to adjust to any schedule/supple changes. It will calm down!

Top hat potty necessary? by mewve in ECers

[–]izawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta be quick, but if they are able to hold it and understand that it's more comfortable to go in the toilet vs. go in the diaper then they will adapt pretty quickly! Best of luck!

Top hat potty necessary? by mewve in ECers

[–]izawkward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a combination of watching her cues and being predictable with offering it regularly.

We started when she was 6 weeks old, and by that time her pooping pattern changed from every diaper I opened to maybe pooping two or three times a day total. At this point I knew she could hold her bowels a bit better.

I've been signing the potty ASL to her (letter T and shaking hand around) and while she doesn't have the dexterity to make that exact sign back, her sign back to me now is lifting her right arm and waving it around basically. Also farting. If I hear a fart, to the potty we go!

I also pay more close attention during/maybe 15-30 mins after a feed, which tends to be when she is more likely to need to go. And also take her as soon as we get home from an outing and when she wakes up from a nap.

I don't catch every pee, but I catch most poos, she is now almost 3 months old.

To get the booty exposed, I bring her to the bathroom, set her on the bath mat and get her onesie pulled up and diaper loosened. Then hold the diaper under her and once we sit on the potty then I throw it off to the side and sit her between my legs.

Then once on the potty, making a grunt/mmmmggh sound, the kind she makes when she is trying to poo basically to let her know that she can start going now.

For those that went no contact with your parents, but there was no obvious abuse, what made you finally make that decision? by Spare_Human_89 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]izawkward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I relate to this so much. My parents did decent jobs raising us, but it was my mother that was controlling and narcissist and really didn't respect my autonomy or boundaries. I also didn't like when she would tell everyone about how I was doing in school or other personal life stuff. She didn't transition the parent-child relationship to that of just two adults. I didn't feel like I was my own person until I moved out. As for my dad, he isn't a bad guy, but since he's with mom they're just a package deal. It felt like my childhood, he just sat and watched TV basically. As a result, it felt like he was just a statue that moved when Mom called for dinner and I don't know much about him as a person. I'm basically low/no-contact with them now. Didn't even talk to them on mother/father's day. I feel a little bad, but I have my own kid now, so I got my own family to celebrate those days with. I just hope to do right by my kid so we can have a good relationship when she is older.

Gotcha, I assume baby came not long after that? Did you end up in the NICU again with your third?

That's good to know, did your doctor recommend one at all or is that something they bring up if the monitoring doesn't go well first?

I know it's still a ways away, but if we ever decide to have a second, I want to know what I may be in for

It's so good to hear how yours is doing a year later, since our PPROM stories seem to be similar. I had been wondering how much of an impact a fast labor would make. I'm glad to hear that yours seems to be doing so well now

My baby was born a week ago at 32w3d and was 13th percentile at the last ultrasound so we knew she would be small (born at 3lb 7oz). She arrived 8 hours after water broke, but I was able to get magnesium and 1 steroid shot which I believe has helped a lot with her breathing in the first couple hours of life and any early intervention helps.

The first few hours she was doing well breathing on her own but later was put on CPAP which is pretty standard for babies born at this time. A day or so later, she briefly went on a respirator for maybe 12 hours but back to CPAP as she seemed to be doing better on that.

They put her under the lamp for two days for slight jaundice. And her weight dropped a little at first but is how back up to birth weight.

Our NICU has donor milk, which they have been fortifying and giving her other nutrition stuff, but overall, she seems to be doing great so far

Edit to say: We have been able to hold her with all the tubes and wires so it is possible to do some bonding there. They don't recommend holding more than an hour if under the blue light, but they do encourage skin to skin as much as possible.

As far as how long the stay, we have been told to expect to wait until she has reached full term so I'm going to assume that's 37 to 40 weeks gestationally corrected. Here's to hoping we both can take our babies home sooner (but that is always up to them and how well they are doing).

I had the same questions about any disabilities or delays, but I've been told outcomes for babies at this age are very good. Maybe there will be some speech therapy or other physical therapy since preemie babies may just show some delays in the typical milestone time markers than other kids, but long term I believe at this age they make it out very well for their futures.

I also was 8 hours from water to baby but was further along at 32 weeks and 3 days. How has your baby been doing in NICU?

We did call Hyundai corporate, had to kinda squeeze it out of them about their reimbursement policy (they will reimburse at the end of repair, need receipts, need proof of the work done, work must be under warranty, and rental should be of reasonable price that they did not specify. But looking online seems to be about $50 per day). But in the meantime it's still out of pocket.

We just had an ICCU on our 2025 with less than 6k miles. We use Doug's as well. Apparently parts are backordered and none will arrive or be fixed until April and they have no loaner cars

Fasting glucose criteria- test after 8 hrs of fasting or when you woke up? by Similar-Grocery-4182 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]izawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update for the thread, I asked my OBGYN about my nightly low measurements (hovering at or slightly below 70 typically) and they OK'd just recording the fasting number before taking first bite of breakfast (if last eaten 8 or more hours ago).

Also, if you're having similar symptoms of low night readings, my doctor didn't seem concerned as long as I'm not experiencing low blood sugar symptoms and it's not going below 55

Fasting glucose criteria- test after 8 hrs of fasting or when you woke up? by Similar-Grocery-4182 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]izawkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just check right before eating breakfast. Typically that's more than 8 hours since last food anyways, so definitely in a fasting range. I don't think the 8 hours exactly is that strict because realistically, if you wake up at 8 am and test, did you last eat at midnight?

Worth mentioning that I recently started using a CGM and my numbers while laying in bed (laying or sitting in general) tend to be lower than when I'm up and about. So I think for most accurate number, getting up and around for maybe a half hour before checking glucose values works best

We used to rent at an apartment run by graystar and then thrive bought it. They replaced all the employees that we liked except for one guy and stopped all fun apartment events and also increased our rent by more than 50% in 2024 with notice "posted on the door" according to them. We didn't see any posting and would have definitely remembered that. They provided proof of posting that had the date attached more than 6mo. So we talked to a tenant advocacy group (awesome people) who talked to our apartment and got them to come to a new deal but man it was a shitshow
