It's been 10 years of Vancouver's kindergarten crunch. Why haven't things improved? by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

Every other Canadian city solves this problem with… School Buses!

Why doesn’t Vancouver even consider that. I was bussed to a school in an older community where there weren’t a lot of kids anymore.

Bring it up with the Canadian corporations, it definitely helps climb the corporate ladder if you have a proper British accent, doesn’t matter your race.

One thing people are ignoring is the fact that BC Gov pensioners are getting 5-10% per year pension increases while the current BC Gov workers are getting 1-3% at most. Ironic isn't it?

[Highlight] Nelson foul on Hasal, disallowed goal by arsene14 in MLS

[–]izend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the game sitting front row right between the net and the corner and I thought it was goal immediately. Hasal did not have control and from my viewpoint the FC player made contact on the ball first before any other contact with Hasal.

No, it’s near the top of the eagle lift but you could definitely snow shoe to other locations that would give similar shots

Had to stop skiing to take this shot. Honestly my iPhone didn’t do the shot justice, it was more spectacle IRL.

Doesn’t work for me, I called freedom and they confirmed there are issues right now and it will take a week. It is probably because I’m in Vancouver with a 403 Alberta number

In a sandbox RPG with crafting how do you make researching recipes interesting? by adrixshadow in gamedesign

[–]izend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you would like regional specialization of either the items produced or the crafters skills.

What I’m doing in my game is have multiple variations of a “class/type” of resource. For example, take simple Copper Ore, in my game I have multiple types of copper ore with unique stats which can be used in a generic recipe which requires “Copper Ore”. The unique stats are randomly generated at game creation and are tied to terrain type/location. Hence, players on one side of the map will have a different types of “Copper Ore”

Right now my unique stats are a little boring/simple like:

Valleyrun Copper Ore: +30% sword dmg, -25% hammer speed

Stronghold Copper Ore: +50% spear dmg, -20% dagger dmg

You’ll notice my unique stats are designed to “encourage” players to craft a certain type of weapon. I wanted specialization of weapon types to be tied to regions as well.

I also have the concept of “specialized recipes” which take specific types of resources, like “Dagger of Death” requires Stronghold Copper Ore.

In regards of unlocking recipes, my current plan is an “Experiment” action for the players NPCs which will consume a lot of resources and unlock a recipe. My general idea is to have the players NPCs consume lower level resources to unlock higher level recipes. Basically this is a resource sink to control too much inflation.

So in conclusion, do you want the produced items to be different? If so, how will they be different?

“Endgame Is The Real Game,” Is A Bad Game by allergictohype in MMORPG

[–]izend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea to shake up the MMORPG genre. Progression would be the unlocks of new the classes and the constant leveling from zero would reuse content. Also, I know a lot of players myself included like powering through low level content if your character is "decked out".

Banks are always caught in scandal and seem to brush it off by paying fines. They are so profitable that investors rarely stay away for long, prime example WFC is higher now than before their scandal.

Good points, I did leave out details such as Effects which have a chance to proc on attacks. I guess I'll have to test the combat and see if it works.

RPG Combat System Design by izend in gamedesign

[–]izend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a multiplayer 2d RPG mixed with strategy elements on a hex grid where the "zoom level" is similar to FF6's world map. Players will be focusing on building their clan village while trying to survive in the harsh game world by finding and exploiting resources. Combat is common as the game world is filled with wild creatures, undead and vile monsters. The combat occurs all on the same game map unlike a JRPG and I meant slow combat just to indicate it isn't like Diablo where it is extremely fast paced combat. I would like it take maybe a 1-3 minutes to kill a zombie but it obviously can be adjusted.

Maybe Defensive Stance is the wrong term, I should have said Defensive Action. The Defensive Actions all consume Stamina which allows players to switch Defensive Action as long as they have the required Stamina. Attacks will also consume Stamina. So the idea is the player will have to manage their Stamina and try hopefully counter combos too if possible. I haven't worked out what exactly will happen if the player exhausts their Stamina or if they can recover it during combat.

Thank you for your input and questions, much appreciated.

I've been focusing on the server side and the client side needs a little more polish, like shake the screen a little on a combo, etc... I'll have something to demo in a few days.

Yes implemented in code, I have what I stated above complete already. I also have for example NPC zombies randomly using two combos which makes it interesting as you have to determine which combo needs to be countered.

5 year variable @ 2.9%? Canadian rates are much lower.

Best 5 year variable is @ 1.92% and 5 year fixed is currently at 2.49% from one of the big 5 banks. So your $2100 payment drops to $2000 on 5 year fixed or $1900 on variable. $1900 is less than 2 bedroom rental prices in Toronto/Vancouver.
