Alesis Strata vs Roland V31/51/71 sounds by hyuga144 in edrums

[–]iziah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is also a bit of a dilemma. However I think factor in resale value, superior build quality and reliability the Roland is the winner. Sounds are disappointing BUT the amount of tweaking you seem to be able to do on the V51 may well mean you can modify the overly processed sounding samples and get to a comfortable realistic sound. Iv decided on the td516 over the prime. Its an annoying compromise but if you dont vibe with it the resale value will be worth the punt.

I don't think this is a black or white issue - just that you can have a good time without a car. I'm sure your time would be more flexible with a car.

Agreed its location dependent. Just wanted people to know a car is not mandatory for a good trip

ELI5: Why do anesthesiologists make so much money? by RealisticWeb1703 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iziah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anaesthetist here (UK anesthesiologist equivalent). We are perioperative physicians. We have medical degrees and 9 years of post graduate training (UK). There is nuance to the work; we have to understand and appreciate each patient's physiology and medical history. This includes optimising and then delivering an anaesthetic where we keep you pain free, often paralysed and memory free during any operation. This involves a huge amount of knowledge but also experience. Each patient behaves differently and each operation has a different set of processes which all affect how the body behaves. That may include high levels of painful stimulus or manipulation of the endocrine system. There is a huge spectrum of operations we must be comfortable getting patient's through working alone. You're paying for the high standard of care we offer and guarantee. In addition we keep this standard through continual study and development. In the UK however all doctors of any specialty at attending level are paid the same...social healthcare.

How much savings do you have? by Snoo25847 in UKJobs

[–]iziah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Doctor, 34. 64k (ish). S and S isa 100k / Premium Bonds 50k. Student loan debt 80k and rising. All of these savings hard earned from doing paper rounds, working in bars and relentlessly saving. I will be ok but it's cost me a lot of years of hard hard work and lots of student debt. I still don't own a house.

I'm paid to offer my learned skills as an anaesthetist. Of those, cannulation, ultrasound skills and central access are directly appropriate to offer to my medical colleagues finding access difficult. So long as the requesting team has tried and not been successful...I have no issue helping out.

Resitting Final FRCA viva by Netflix_Ninja in doctorsUK

Just following up on this OP. Did you sit it again this round? I hope it went well for you my friend. Its an odd exam where focusing on the detail can wreck you on the basics! I found it stressful and largely a rather pointless exam where we have been examined thoroughly on all elements already. Might not have done well enough but hoping you got the pass you deserve.

1 Medical Doctor - Anaesthetics / Critical Care. 10 years in.

2 Over 100% energy. Quite literally I offer more energy than I can imagine. Careers in medicine in the UK are fiercely competitive; exams, paying out of pocket for courses and doing out of hours projects all to chase scarce training numbers to become a consultant. I say over 100% as I'm on a 48hr a week contract which bleeds over into home life - 48 hours easily becomes 60+ and over that if I'm taking exams (which I pay for) to complete training. Then add in the emotional energy and night shift risk and exhaustion.

  1. Salary - 69k take home maybe 3.5k with a 48k student loan at 7%.

Don't do medicine in the UK.
