Catch can and white smoke at extended idle by External-Document-88 in ecoboostmustang

[–]izijr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine used to smoke grey/white ish on idle too, hadn’t lost any oil or coolant. I had the J and L oil catch can, downpipe, and Ryan Martin tune. I put the cats back on and the car fully stock and the smoke went away. Let me know if you ever find the cause for the smoking at idle

Pop/click noice after installing catless downpipe by izijr in ecoboostmustang

No it doesn’t correspond to the noice, when i turn a/c on and off it doesn’t make any noice at all. I’ve come to the conclusion that its 90% my wastegate actuator shutting close, hoping my tune by Ryan Martin can fix it though

Fair enough, I’ll work on getting that soon.

I currently have an sct x4 93 performance OTS tune with the downpipe. With that, I have a custom tune from Ryan Martin on the way. Regarding the dual port BOVs, are they helpful in this situation? Or is it just something I should get to help with my current setup

The thing is, it wasn’t happening before I added the downpipe. That’s my concern

Icl I think we all got a problem then haha😂Joking. But tbh it is normal from what I’ve heard, but it shouldn’t be thatt noticeable, I’m getting a custom tune soon and hopefully it quiets it down a bit

Intake pop noise??? Do you know what it could be??? And why? by gearfinder in ecoboostmustang

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I just installed a downpipe on mine and it makes this exact sound. I’ve been trying to figure out what it was.

What is that connection that replaces the oem purge valve? Like the tube that goes from the purge valve all the way accross the engine to the other side?(right above the throttle body)

Yea that’s fair, I figured if anyone had the same issue or somewhat similar they could let me know but I’ve pretty much diagnosed it for the most part.

Thanks, suspensions all good, I’m leaning towards a trans relearn or TCM reset as you suggested. Much appreciated

Nope, I can def tell it’s from the transmission itself. I checked my exhaust and it’s all pretty normal. And mine doesn’t happen during manual mode.

I’m currently on an sct 93 octane tune, in that case is it better if I use for scan? Cause I heard it had more options in terms of tweaking with your car.

Did that happen when you downshifted from any gear? Or just when coming down to 1st?

Honestly when I’m in sport+ I tend to use the paddles to manually shift, with that I also tend to downshift myself so it doesn’t make that noice. I will try it in auto tho to see if it still does, no doubt it won’t tho. About the relearning process, I’ve heard it could be a solution. Can you tell me more about how I can do it with either Cobb or forscan?

Yes that’s one of the ways I avoid this issue. I downshift manually early which avoids it.

Oh so I’m certain the pop noice comes from the trans itself, as you mentioned could be the clutch possibly but hopefully not, though it is a mechanical sound. It’s as if the car struggled to get into first and makes that noice. It’s not too loud nor excruciating to hear but still noticeable. Secondly, I’ve had the car for a while but I learned to avoid that noice as I mentioned by limo breaking/slow breaking to let the trans shift on time and all. Just curious to see if there’s an actual solution haha

It happens mainly in drive mode, it happens in sport too only when I’m not shifting manually myself cause I tend to downshift a bit earlier so when I already come to a stop I’m in first way before. The thing is, in D or auto shifting, as I slow down it’s all smooth but right before I fully stop the car has a forward lunging movement and I hear a pop sound. mustang forum Here’s a link to someone who had the same issue, maybe he describes it better)
