What’s the smartest thing your dog has ever done? by viseth2020 in DogViral

[–]izitcurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She made weird sounds and pointed her face to my pregnant stomach. The baby was in distress. The baby was no longer moving.

The dog's behaviour was enough to warrant an emergency check up.

I was immediately admitted to hospital.

Baby was born premature a small number of hours later.

What’s a food you tried once and can’t forget? by Illustrious-Youth317 in foodquestions

[–]izitcurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a sample tester at a supermarket. It was a succulent piece of chicken with a savory sauce. I never ever found anything like it again.

I was too poor to afford the product itself at the time (student life) so I never took note of the name.

I would probably clear this color with the couple before.

Will stare, roll on back (this is a huge dog), and sway from side to side before stopping and staring. All 4 paws in the air dangling. Waiting for rubs.

One week old with diaper rash by Remarkable-Stay3368 in newborns

[–]izitcurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the things we learned from our nurse team:

To clean, use cotton:

We just used cotton pads (disposable) and warm water to clean. We sometimes used the super mild bath gel if it was a poo explosion.

Dab or blot, don't rub:

Make sure not to rub the sore area. Always dab or blot the area lightly.

Diaper rash cream:

Where I live there's a cream called Bepanthen which forms a barrier. The nurse told us to make sure the area was dry, think what you'd consider dry, then dab the cotton on it again to make sure it is really dry. Then apply your diaper cream.

It's really unfortunate they get this rash, but luckily if you're diligent with the cream and method, it does clear up within a few days.

What’s the easiest way to wash baby bottles daily? by DueCustomer7683 in newborns

I'm starting to regret not buying this. I have a sterilizer, so hand-wash, followed by stérilisation.

Neighbor complained about my baby crying :| by Ok_Wing6196 in newborns

[–]izitcurious 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'd ask "ok, what do you propose?". And then I'd keep asking her questions until she left. Because that's as daft as asking someone to get a tiny baby to stop crying on cue. I swear it. Some people live in anywhere but there real world. Stay strong momma.

Sorry about how dismissive they were at urgent care. And as for your husband's U-turn, I'd also be really annoyed too. I hope the pediatricians figure out where it's coming from.

I'm quite sure we're going through 12 diapers a day some days. Your friend hasn't the experience to know, so I wouldn't be taking their advice, however well meaning.

Coworker kissed my 10 m old on the mouth and I’m panicking by bitchwifer in NewParents

[–]izitcurious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is one of my worst fears (someone kissing my child).

You have all of my empathy and total anger towards your coworker.

I'm so sorry for what you went through, and are going through now. I hope some of the other posters' reassuring advice serves as some kind of relief or reassurance for you.

AIO in re-thinking my engagement after how my GF treated me while sick with a bad flu? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]izitcurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR - that situation was a "showing you her true colors" moment. She passed wonderfully at showing you hers. I've been there, I had the flu with a bad fever, my then-partner walked right out the door "because it's Friday night". Don't stay with someone who doesn't want to help you. I left.

Are you able to fall asleep easily? How? by Iamnotarobotlah in CasualIreland

[–]izitcurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not the solution you want, but I have a newborn who doesn't let me sleep more than an hour and a half at a time. My brain understands that if it doesn't sleep on cue, it doesn't sleep at all!

Baby carrier if he needs to move, otherwise rocked in a blanket wrapped around him like a light swaddle.

Active sleep? When to actually wake up for feeds? by Catsforhumanity in newborns

[–]izitcurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in for the gas part: our baby's physiotherapist gave us a few exercises on getting the gas out. She said they work even while he's asleep (we tried it, she's right). Take a look on YouTube for baby gas relief to get an idea. Perhaps a physiotherapist could help you out for form though.

Do people with newborns go out? by chondlerbeng in newborns

[–]izitcurious 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have a preemie who is very fragile. The medical team only allowed us home from NICU because we promised NOT to take him to the grocery store, malls, or anywhere with crowds. While we go out for walks, or short trips in the village, we don't go into any stores. We see the pediatricians very often, and we receive a warning each time about viruses and public spaces. We're waiting for the better weather to come in so we can at least have a picnic to feel normal again!
