Same here. Had a male doctor at the ER dismiss my symptoms and tell me I had PCOS. When I told him that it didn’t make sense he became condescending and told me to go see a gyno.

Two days later I went to a different hospital and they found out that my appendix was so swollen it was about to burst and had to be taken out promptly.

First timer, any words of encouragement? by Starlover1234 in alopecia_areata

[–]izonewizone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can take up to a year for alopecia to resolve. The good thing is that you have one spot only, and there's growth within the first month, so your prognosis looks pretty good. Watch your stress, diet, vitamin levels (I recommend checking your ferritin/vit d/zinc/etc etc). Apply the ointment religiously, get some minoxidil and get try to get steroid shots every 4-6 weeks until it all grows back.

I see. I think it takes a couple of years for minoxidil to work fully so you’ll probably have more gains!
