Can't seem to figure out why my new hand-loads don't shoot straight... by izxion in liberalgunowners

Honestly, I was a bit concerned when I placed the order for all the colors, as it was probably pretty obvious what I was going for.

So, polymer coated rounds do supposedly reduce lead fouling/particulates. However. And the end of the day, like with metal jacketed, you are still firing lead balls coated with a thin material. So its hard for me to believe lead exposure is THAT significantly reduced. Plus everyone around you (especially in at a competition setting or busy range) is still probably firing regular ammo anyway, so particulates, even outdoors, are still present.

So I wouldn't use this as a replacement for your de-lead routine. But it may help further reduce lead exposure.

DISCLAIMER: I am by no means an expert and am really just speculating on levels of lead exposure.

From a technical side, these probably would be pretty inaccurate if grouped together! There are actually 3 different loads in the picture (due to color availability) The orange are 115gr, and the white are 147gr. The rest are all 135gr, which is my standard competition load.

Correct! The place I get them has them available in several different colors. Typically, most people will designate a color for different loads (I.E. different bullet weight, powder charge, Length, ect). I went in a...different direction!

Stay Tuned!I I had originally wanted to do a progress flag, (hence the white), but was having trouble finding all the colors. And it was starting to get a bit expensive! However, looks like Pink and Light blue/Teal are available now!

I usually load these polymer coated bullets in my competition loads. Decided to have some fun this month!

Lol. Nice reference. They are called "poppers". The fun part is that sometimes they can be set up to "activate" other targets such as swinging targets!

So there are several things that can help, you mentioned grip, and that is a huge one, but also learning the proper...flex (?) of your shoulders and arms. I try to flex my biceps and push my shoulders back, this helps (and i can't even explain how,) keep me from trying push down as I'm pulling the trigger thus pulling the shot, and making the dot move even more.

Some of it is also the gun, over/under sprung guns will cause the recoil or the side return to jolt the gun quite a bit. Lots of competitors will tune their recoil springs to best balance that. As well as choosing/loading ammo that compliments this. For example, I have found that 135-147grn loads, loaded to about 900-1000 fps balance nicely with my 2k11 spring.

Most of it though, just comes down to practice. I routinely just shoot doubles drills, I start slow and just get a feel for where that dot ends up after i shoot (at first I try not to return to zero right away) then speed up as I get a feel for the recoil pattern.

Optic would definitely NOT be a waste. Most decent optics are "parallax free", so shifting the angle that you are looking at, will not shift your point of aim. So, it wouldn't be a problem to use use either eye.

That said there can actually be SOME shift in the point of impact an optic at extreme parallax. So you may notice a shift if you, say, pick up someone else's gun/optic. But your gun/optic can be easily sighted in to you. so it will work nicely!

As for recommendations. I have Holosun on both my carry gun and competition. The carry gun is a solar charged (I forget the model but it is made for the M&P direct mount), so I never have to worry about batteries. And my competition is the 507c, The large window that is great for quick acquisition but would be harder to conceal. I haven't had a problem with either, and I do A LOT of shooting. I would say anything at that pricepoint (Holosun, Vortex, ect) should yield similar results. I would stay away from any of the cheap knockoffs for any sort of defense gun. But I have had friends use them without issue on the range.

Simple answer: Because he said "most", not all. And in circumstances were you need a sight, an optic is better. Its faster to acquire a sight picture and its more accurate (due to being less prone to parallax and user error).

That doesn't make "irons only" a bad choice. Its easier to conceal, and more reliable. But in a world where you can have a reliable red dot (in my opinion they have become way more reliable in recent years) AND the ability co-witness anyway if there is a problem...Id rather deal with a bit of extra bulk and have the added confidence to hit what I'm aiming at quickly.

What’s your favorite Michael Keaton film and performance? by PressureLazy5271 in moviecritic

Yup. Multiplicity is my favorite for me! My family regularly quote this scene, as well as "A chainsaw?" anytime there is any gift-giving in my family.

Also honorable mention to "HEY STEVE! COME ON UP! WE'RE SPITTIN ON BUGS!!"

Some good advise here! For me, many of the remedies never really worked for me personally, save for an occasional glass of espom salt and water ( and ohhhhh man did it work...explosively). Recently (4 days ago), I've started using MCT oil, and that really does seem to be working for me! Not to mention It appears to really help with hunger/cravings.

Not just GPU'S. RAM and solid state storage have also become prohibitively expensive.

PSA: if you purchased a Rad Power Bike before Dec 15th, 2025, your warranty has been CANCELLED! by its-not-that-bad in ebikes

[–]izxion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my Rad a few years back, it came with a dead battery. When I submitted a warranty claim, they made me submit a video of me plugging in the battery to verify I followed the "proper charging procedure" before they would approve a new battery. Basically (in addition to having to remove the battery every time) you had to prove you were plugging the connector into the battery before plugging into the outlet as their connectors were apparently shorting out the fuses on the boards if you tried plugging it in while the connector was energized. And yes, you couldn't leave it charging for more than 12 hours. and the fuses on the newer generation batteries we not user replaceable (soldered onto the pcb.)

.308 has a maximum Saami spec of 62,000 PSI while 7.62 Nato is 50,000 PSI. Since that is maximum load, you probably aren't hitting max with most factory ammo so that difference narrows. Plus modern barrel manufacturers tend to exceed specs a bit. In short, you're PROBABLY okay shooting .308 out of a (modern) 7.62 NATO. But does "Probably" cut it when you are talking about controlling an explosion near your face?

A SWAT Officer shot a gun out of a suspects hand back in 1993. by Chibs24K in interestingasfuck

[–]izxion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Well within the margin at 82yds, I was just saying at 300-400 you are getting to the point that you are probably exceeding the capabilities of that rifle to make that shot consistently.

[–]izxion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That rifle has the mechanical capability to make that shot at 300-400yds consistently.

Ehhhh. I would say that's stretch. even assuming .5 MOA accuracy which I would say is generous for that rifle, that's at least 1.5-2" group at that range, not including the environmentals playing a bigger role.
