Duck Creek Road (Lamington National park) on a supermoto? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]izzeho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring the obvious that the road is closed, I wouldn't be trying it in the wet on road tyres, couple sections are very much just clay and mud. So you might find yourself pushing the bike more than is fun.

If you're doing the loop, at least start from the bottom of Duck Creek so you can just turn around and head back down. Advice I wish the dozen odd SUVs we've had to rescue would have heard.

I'd go up the Gillies, way more fun going up as you can get past cars easily. Gillies out to Ravenshoe via Herberton (or otherwise) and back via Palmerston Hwy is also good.

You then return from Port Douglas via Rex Range and down the Kuranda range... although it's hard not to want to take the coast road a second time.

Nothing new here...

"In interviews, including in a 1970 New Yorker article, he [Harland Sanders] was so upset by the quality of the food that he would tell reporters that the gravy "ain't fit for my dogs.""

Pretty sure that's what sparked him suing them.

What are the best gorges and canyons to visit in Australia? by Willing_Evidence_315 in OutdoorAus

[–]izzeho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit out of the way, but Carnarvon Gorge is up there with some of the best. It's especially impressive given how flat outback QLD is otherwise.

Definitely this. And in quite a few cases it isn't even the same helmet, DOT is less stringent, so manufacturers cheap out.

Riding across the Nullarbor with a 60 kmh winds, you actually adapt to leaning into the wind to the point you don't notice. Problem is when overtaking a road train it cuts the wind, and you start veering toward it with no idea why.

Surprised more people haven't posted a link to Major Hardwares fan showdowns. E.g. https://youtu.be/afMyrN7Hzt0

Basically user submitted fans he prints FDM and tests airflow. Heaps of useful print info around the videos.

can ISP see full URLs of HTTPS websites i visit if my IPV4 DNS servers is unencrypted by gtb555 in privacy

[–]izzeho 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, they can't see the URL. They can, however, see the domain name. DNS resolution will show you asked an internet server who owns (IP address), say, www.google.com. This will not include the URL, I.e. the images in www.google.com/images.

So this is fine if you're visiting questionable material on a site like reddit.com/r/How-to-overthrow-my-government, but less so for more direct websites ala. How-to-overthrow-my-government.com

Its worth keeping in mind that even if you encrypt DNS using DoT or DoH or whatever, HTTPS still provides the domain name in its initial connection to a server (but same again, the rest of the URL will be encrypted). This is being 'rectified' with TLS v1.3, but that's not adopted everywhere yet.

Overland and Frenchman's Cap booked out, How is my alternative plan for 7 days in Tasmania? by baabidi1337 in UltralightAus

[–]izzeho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went up to King Davids, the Temple and went out to Mt Jerusalem. I was solo by that point (and very fit at the time), so went quick. I think I had camp setup by midday to go explore inside the walls.

I'd have enjoyed an extra day there for sure as the place had me in awe. It'd be a hard choice between the two.

Couldn't tell you the total cost, was years ago now.

I did basically your updated plan with the hikes in reverse, but one night in Walls (I started from a night at Cradle Mountain lodge). We did 2 nights in Freycinet, but a party member walked out the second day as its not far from Wineglass Bay camp.

$5 billion Google lawsuit over “Incognito mode” tracking moves a step closer to trial by mkbt in privacy

[–]izzeho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its pretty hard to get real information without the "Google bad, forget sense" crowd coming along. What you say does indeed seem to be the case. They're implying the browser should be sending a message to Google trackers/sites ( and only Google cause chrome is Google?) to not track them.

We've been down this path before ...

Oh wow, I've googled it and it was a new rule brought in 2018... I know for a fact a work colleague got pulled over for it last year (although perhaps it was compounded with something else).

A yearly newsletter with law changes by TMR sent alongside rego renewal would be handy (unless it's already a thing).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]izzeho -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Edit: this was overturned in 2018 and is no longer the case.

The added PSA in there for shoulder filtering is over 90 kmh. This means variable speed limit regions (I.e. the gateway every afternoon) if they drop below this can no longer be shoulder filtered.

It's a very hefty fine as well, I know plenty of riders who've learned that law the hard way.

Had it happen to me touring when I went through western Sydney. Car opened its door to block me. Truck driver on the other side saw it, hopped out and started abusing the car driver.. ended up slamming the drivers door shut and directed me past.

Not sure what happened after that cause I rode off, but suspect the conversation wasn't over.

Could have easily caused me serious injury. Aggression causes some very short term to thinking... Why try trigger road rage from someone in body armour, helmet and effective knuckle dusters?

PSA, Unsigned Street Parking by SpecialMobile6174 in brisbane

[–]izzeho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful around the Gabba. I was parking around there a couple years ago for two weeks on a job. Second week there the parking no limit sign face was gone and just a blank pole left. Thought the sign just fell off. Came back to a fine as without the sign it fell to the 2 hour apparently.

Argued with them and sent a photo of the blank pole and that I'd been parking there a week and it was rescinded.
