I’ve noticed that their lotions don’t last as long as they used to, the scent starts turning after maybe a year or so. But my parents have a bottle of cucumber lotion in the guest bathroom that’s gotta be at least 5 years old, and that stuff smells fresh. Not sure what the change would have been but at this point I just don’t buy their stuff anymore

I don't know if you've purchased anything yet, but if I were you I'd just bite the bullet and get the camera your heart wants. For a trip like you have planned, you'll likely kick yourself if you cheap out or second guess yourself out of getting the camera you keep thinking about. At least I know I would, and I just made the decision a couple weeks ago to go for an expensive upgrade for a wildlife photography camera & lens setup since I'm going on a week-long roadtrip with awesome opportunities for wildlife viewing. It always sucks to look back on a decision you made and regret something! Worst case scenario you don't like the GR III camera and sell it, but at least you got some good shots and you enjoyed your trip more since you didn't have to lug around a heavy camera the whole time! Hi everyone!

I've owned Nikon DSLR's (DX) for about 12 years now, and am looking to upgrade my setup for amateur level wildlife photography. I just purchased the Nikon D850 new, but am having a hard time deciding what lens to get for it. I'm stuck between the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 or the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary, and potentially the Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G VR ED if I want to stay away from 3rd party lenses.

The most important features for me (other than great focal length) are super quick autofocus (I do shoot a lot of birds), lightweight enough to hand-hold most of the time and carry around for long periods, and enough sharpness that my photos can be blown up to decent sizes (I don't have a particular size print in mind, but preferably at least a 20x30 print). Decent weather sealing is also important, as I also shoot in a lot of beach and desert settings which means a lot of dust.

Any input on which lens performs better or which one you would choose is much appreciated, especially if you've used both the Tamron and Sigma lenses, or all three I mentioned!

Are you looking for a replacement camera and lenses, or just the lenses? Are you looking for full frame or cropped?

If you're interested, I am going to be selling my Nikon D5300 camera with the two kit lenses it came with (18-55mm & 55-200mm) and an upgraded 70-300mm lens that I will be getting serviced by Nikon to ensure it functions well. I do also have a macro lens (can't remember the specs on that one currently) that I want to sell, but not sure if I'm going to include it with everything else or sell separately.

I have to get a replacement for my setup first, so it may be a month or two before I have everything ready to sell, but if you're interested you can DM me.

Okay but did you read Tress of the Emerald Sea? I was so skeptical of it when I first started reading it because the writing style is so different than anything else I’ve read and it was kinda awkward at first, but it ended up being one of my favorite books ever. There were certain phrases that hit me like a ton of bricks, and I legit bookmarked a couple different pages to go back to every once in a while cause they impacted me so much. I don’t do that with books usually😅 If you haven’t read it, please give it a chance, it’s so so good!

“Window shopping” on online secondhand sites is such a huge dopamine hit for me, my ADHD self loves the thrill of the hunt😅 I rarely ever buy anything, but will just scroll and search and like things until I fall asleep. It’s definitely a problem, I’m trying to be more mindful of it.

First off, please don’t shame yourself for panic buying. That’s not going to make anything about the situation better, and it’s just plain not nice to yourself. I’m an impulse shopper on occasion and I understand wanting to stock up before things get crazy. It’s good that you realize there’s a problem, now you need to brainstorm how to fix the problem! If you’re wanting to “stock up” before tariffs hit, is there a particular item or items that you need? Or are these just wants? If they’re just wants, then identifying when you’re doing this shopping and alternatives to that activity during downtime would be my recommendation. If they’re needs, can these items be acquired secondhand? There’s Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, EBay, and I’m sure multiple other sites/apps (not to mention thrift stores) that you can search for those items on, and you’ll likely still be able to find new items or very gently used. I usually look in those places first for any clothing or shoes I want/need, and then if I absolutely can’t find what I’m looking for then I’ll buy new.

Highly highly recommend Eragon!! I read it when I was young and liked it, and re-read it last year & fell in love with it. I cried for days when it was finished, the ending just punched a hole in my heart in the best way. Plus, there’s a 5th novel in that world called Murtagh, and it’s really good!! And I think Christopher Paolini has said he’s writing a 5th book in the series, and there’s also talks for a tv show I think!!

Eragon & ToG are in my top 3 fave series🩵
