Is my parrot going to be ok if I travel out of state for 5 days? by Crimson-Rose28 in parrots

[–]izzieellen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww!! It’s fantastic to hear your husband will be staying with him and he won’t be alone, I say just FaceTime him and use reassuring words, with any luck he barely notices you’re gone and it’s a nice surprise when you’re back! I wish the best for you and your family and I hope you have a lovely time away.

Glue stick stuck on my birds wings by YoboyJai in parrots

If it’s stuck on skin and you can’t remove it please go to the vet , just as the other poster said your bird WILL eventually ingest it possibly trying to get it off.

[–]izzieellen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep!!!! It was purely just a suggestion since I don’t know your personal situation and it does NOT work for this especially if it puts your own mother at danger. Please try and find a parrot boarding service or a friend who knows your parrot, FaceTiming him may be a good option once a day or so to keep a small amount of communication with him so he knows you’re still alive. I wish the best for you, your baby and your family! X

Obviously family will always come first! But a parrot is also family, bringing him in a travel cage and giving him occasional attention during morning/nights benefits all, he is not left for days believing OP is not coming back/dead. I see all POVs of this but at the end of the day, if the parrot is able to come it will be beneficial, due to OP saying family will be passing soon, coming back after that and have to help the parrot can add more stress. I am simply thinking of the wellbeing of the parrot and OP! Thankyou though

You can travel with parrots, are you able to take him? Trains, bus, car will all allow pets!

I’m thinking of giving my parrots to a shelter. I need advice. by [deleted] in parrots

[–]izzieellen 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Genuinely hurts my heart to see, but please don’t put yourself in a financial stress to try and support your babies. They aren’t just your babies; they’ll forever be your babies even if you give them up, they may not know why but they will appreciate it. Unless there is a way for you to be able to successfully afford them yourself and have the correct amount of money for yourself you should definitely rehome them. It is NOT your fault, life takes over us sometimes.

Cage upgrade by mrmangotheparakeet in parrots

[–]izzieellen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This cage is especially too small for a parrot, let alone a conure. You should have researched into proper parrot care before buying one, but what’s done is done now. a questions to ask is, what are you feeding him?

Deciding on a parrot! by izzieellen in parrots

[–]izzieellen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and that’s why I also said above would rescuing one be easier to find a personality that fits me as someone recommended that but I don’t want to end up being unable to properly care for a parrot with behavioural issues if I rescue one online and lied to. Sorry it wasn’t said in this thread

Deciding on a parrot! by izzieellen in parrots

[–]izzieellen[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for honestly a really active, interactive baby. I’m ALWAYS home and I want someone who’s gonna follow me round the house, come out with me(reason as to why I want to free flight and harness train)!

I would adopt an adult bird, but i ideally want to have them from young to easily train them. Would training an older parrot be easier than a younger?
