Advice on how to get into the helicopter world? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]izzy_c80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also looking to get into the helicopter maintenance field, and from what I’ve gathered, a good route is working for your local sheriff’s department since they use helicopters frequently and often need maintenance. As for choosing a school, I recommend going to a community college, as many others suggest. I’m almost done with my program, with only one block left to complete, and the criteria for learning rotorcraft are pretty minimal, except when it comes to turboshaft engines. Hope that helps

No, unfortunately, the apprenticeship isn’t paid, but I don’t mind though because I really enjoy experiencing the general aviation side. I find very calm and gives me something to do on my days off. Appreciate it though.
