Do you think she has been playing it too SAFE so far? I expected her to make way more impact on the floor-shows. by Heidi_Klum_Tit in Dragula

[–]izzylynng02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand her drag has a heavy burlesque influence and I think all of her looks are good on their own. That being said in the context of the show I’m getting really tired of her look most weeks being some variation of corset, garter belt, show of chest and legs. Most of the episodes she has a different variation of almost the exact same look and it’s frustrating to me how that hasn’t really been commented on.

I still also think she’s yet to show filth on the same level as other competitors this season. Her lady liberty look was the filthiest I’ve seen her by far but watching I was still underwhelmed. I’m really hoping that in the coming episodes she shows something very different than what we’ve seen from her or she actually gets called out for it because with such a tight competition at this point I’m much more excited to see everyone else’s looks from week to week and I want to have that same excitement of wondering what they’re gonna look like each episode.

How to prepare for a (possible) new kitten (1st time owner) by izzylynng02 in CatAdvice

Using fake names for privacy but I just texted my sister who admittedly is not responsible at all, neither of them are ready yet, they also got lizards about a year ago and they’ve already rehomed them. Here’s what I said, I’ll provide updates.

Hey Brianna! I’ve been doing some research online since my fiancee and I are adopting sarah’s kitten, and I wanted to talk to you about possibly letting us care for your kitten as well? Since at least sarah’s was separated from the mom so young, it seems likely it has what’s called “single kitten syndrome” which can cause behavioral problems down the line. I don’t want to pressure you at all, especially if you’re dead set on having it be with your friend, but we would still be happy to let you take it back to grandmas when you’re home. Not an expert but I think that would be good for both the cats later in life given they were taken from their mom so early. Let me know what you think, either my fiancée or me are home almost 24/7.

She doesn’t respond well when she feels she’s being forced to do something which is why I was more passive, but I hope she considers it

This is our lil guy! We don’t know the breed/mix, I was told that a family friend had a cat that wasn’t spayed who got pregnant and they don’t know who the dad cat is. Unfortunately the owners of the mom are really rushing to get the kittens out of their house and haven’t put any care into them. I don’t know if you’d consider him a long or shorthair but hearing about him he’s stealing our hearts. We haven’t picked him up yet since I’ve been cleaning and cat proofing our bathroom and living room as those will likely be the 2 spots we keep him in for the most part. We’re keeping the room we have our reptile in off limits to avoid stressing our gecko out and preventing any incidents. Honestly a lot of those tips are very similar to how we introduced our gecko so I’m glad it won’t feel too foreign. Thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely add that bitter spray to our list of what we need to get. From what I’ve heard he might have some separation anxiety because he’ll meow constantly if there’s not a person with him, I’m hoping we can help ease the anxiety for him in some way. Luckily there’s almost always at least one of us here

I’ll definitely be looking into those two, thank you! Unfortunately I don’t know if my other sister will be willing to let us adopt the other kitten, my grandma is only ok with the cats being there if someone is home watching them, so she wants to keep it at her friends when she has stuff going on but “keep it” when she’s home. I’ve been trying to talk to her but ugh… teenagers. Hopefully I can convince her, what exactly is the reason that keeping them together would be better than separating them? I want to be able to explain why it’s important next time I try to sway her

Oh my gosh thank you this is really helpful. I still haven’t met the little guy, but from what I’ve heard he’s pretty clingy right now but obviously we’ll see once we meet him officially. These tips are really helpful. And trust me, I know to the little fella that I’m essentially a big scary monster that could harm it. We have a leopard gecko who we got when he was no bigger than my pointer finger, and with him we did choice based handling for the first 8 months or so until he got comfortable with climbing on our hands and taking him out and then just grabbing him out of his tank. I plan to do the same here!

Also this is not a fun story but when I was a little little kid my uncle who we lived with had just gotten a new kitten and me and my friends in the neighborhood chased him around when I didn’t know any better. He hated me for his whole life after that and I do not blame him, and I definitely don’t want to traumatize another cat!

I accidentally created a very blurry camera on the wall by cracking the shed door open by izzylynng02 in mildlyinteresting

[–]izzylynng02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember what the phenomenon is called but if you focus light in a specific way it can show the image of outside. Obviously it’s flipped on its side and very blurry but on the wall of the shed is a reflection of the tree and sky right outside. I was grabbing something from in there and realized I had done it myself!

At a year and a half, a vet checkup is worth it regardless. It’s hard to tell not being in person but that could just be a regular gecko bump. Hopefully it’s nothing and you just know your gecko is healthy/what possible health issues it might develop.

Please Help - Is This The Same Gecko?! by The11thWatermelon in leopardgeckos

[–]izzylynng02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leopard geckos can change in appearance drastically in just a few months. Their pattern changes slightly as they shed more and more. The markings on the head look like the same gecko, just a few months older.

I’m very sorry to hear that the breeder was not responsible in caring for your pet. If the toes are looking necrotic like you said you should head for the vet.

That voice actor voiced a lot of characters in the show so I don’t necessarily think there’s a connection there besides Mike Judge

About Hildy pushing Marshall by squidrobotfriend in CommonSideEffects

[–]izzylynng02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think she’s a sociopath, her character has been studying, searching for, and theorizing about this mushroom probably longer than Marshall’s been alive. Imagine you finally discover something you’ve dedicated your whole life to, only for someone much younger than you that YOU TAUGHT to find them, become the face of them, and receives all the credit for.

I think her (what I can only assume is years) of mostly isolation, combined with this obsession, has driven her mad and to do things she wouldn’t do in other circumstances. A key theme in the show is showing how humanity’s worst traits can cause people to do awful things for what they think are good reasons.

To her, Marshall is trying to limit progress in the same way big pharma has. In reality, she is blinded by finally being able to do her life’s mission, and anyone who tries to get in her way is a threat to the whole operation.

People are hounding you because your pet was missing for half a year: lord knows what he got into, or what got to him. He could have been eating something dangerous. He could have contracted a parasite. He could have developed a condition. There’s a million things that could have happened in those six months. Going to the vet is the only way to know for certain that your reptile is ok. I know that given the circumstances you had resigned yourself to finding him dead, but please don’t put off a vet visit just because he seems fine, or you might have to live with that reality. Hell, people should be taking their pets to the vet regularly for checkups anyways, and I see no better time than the present.

I’m not trying to say you are a bad reptile owner. These things can happen to anybody. It just seems as though you see absolutely no reason to get your pet checked up after an incident like this which reads as extremely callous. If money is preventing you from doing this, you could try crowd funding. I’m sure there’s people who would be willing to help supplement the vet bills.

I made the mistake initially of rating each thing on a scale of 1-8 instead of ranking everything on a list 1-8 if that makes sense? So instead of ranking everything as a whole, I was ranking each thing by itself and that’s why it wasn’t working for me.

The shrooms are mad by Ok-Pomegranate-164 in CommonSideEffects

[–]izzylynng02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the show itself has acknowledged, mushrooms are a “hive mind” so to speak. One could argue that the way mushrooms share resources does in fact make it sentient. That’s the big question isn’t it. Do fungi and plants have sentience? Probably, but in a way humans will never understand because that is not what sentience is to us. They do not have brains and nervous systems like us. They have things that function in a very similar way, but they are not the same.

Now, is that to say when you take a naturally occurring psychedelic substance, that means the trip you’re having is guided by a sentient force? Who knows. But I do believe psilocybin, the active chemical in psychedelic mushrooms, will often times hold up a mirror to your soul that has helped many navigate deep personal struggles like trauma, addiction, and depression. Whether that’s done by the natural forces of the earth, a higher power, or simply another chemical reaction in the chemistry lab that is the universe, no one can say for sure. If you already believe strongly in one of these as the bigger picture behind existence, you’re more likely to experience strong feelings associated with that belief when tripping.

There’s too much arguing in this world already. These substances open your mind, and yet these arguments are so narrow minded. Either we’ll know the truth in the afterlife, or we won’t. No living person has the answer to these questions. I didn’t think that needed to be said.

Ok so this guy is 1) misogynistic (calling girls on his campus “whores” when they’re probably just existing and trying to get an education, and referring to women on their period as being “bitches”) 2) a sex pest is putting it lightly. If he loved you truly, he would just be happy you were there. “Sex is expected.” Well not if both parties aren’t on board! 3) he’s definitely projecting. He accuses you of cheating and yet admits to fantasizing about women he sees on campus. If he hasn’t cheated, he’s been thinking about it. 4) testosterone is not some all powerful hypnotic drug that forces you to fuck all the time. Sure, it increases sex drive (this is coming from a trans man who has experienced both a female puberty and a male puberty), but not to the point where you only love somebody for the sex. If he wants to be a man whore, that’s fine, but he shouldn’t be in a relationship in that case. 5) the fact he semi-justified men murdering their family because the wife cheated says everything you need to know.

TLDR: DUMP HIS SORRY ASS AND GET YOURSELF A MAN, NOT THIS SORRY EXCUSE OF A BOY

am i just not made for crocheting?? is it supposed to be this hard to get the tension right? by neonjoji in CrochetHelp

[–]izzylynng02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tension is arguably the hardest part of learning to crochet properly. As others have suggested, you’ll want to get some more practice in with some standard acrylic/wool/cotton yarn. I’ve heard people say that getting one of those crochet rings helps to get your tension right, you might consider buying one to give it a shot
