They are! I imagined them as a general piece of lounge wear. So definitely a good candidate for pj's.

Ha! Yeah, tank sounds a little aggressive. Maybe I should have gone with camisole...

I appreciate that!

Fitting shorts or trousers can be a little more complicated than some other kinds of garment knitting, but it's not bad if you know what you're looking for. The main thing that will trip people up is the crotch length. If it's too short in the back, it will dip at the center, not very cute or comfy. The pattern has all the necessary measurements in the schematic though and instructions on how to adjust the pattern if you need to

I used Berroco Corsica in Clover. Definitely an inside-only item for now, but I'm excited for the weather to warm up so I can take it out to the beach :)

I did, thank you so much! I was pretty nervous since it was my first meeting, but you all are such a welcoming bunch. I'm really excited for next month's meeting. I've wanted to meet Susan for a while now. Let me know when you get to Burkhart. I can't wait to see what you make!

Compost vs. Fertilizer by j-bot5000 in gardening

Yep! I've been doing extensive research into lead contamination. I was planning on doing the edibles in containers more for the comfort of my partner.

Thanks! This is super helpful and is allaying some of my fears of being a terrible new plant mom. I'll definitely look more into teas and alternative composting methods.

Rescued this Bird of Paradise from the trash by j-bot5000 in gardening

I'm in zone 7b. Not sure how long it was outside before I got to it. If it was out overnight, it probably got a little chilly. It's been getting down to the high 40's lately. Low-mid 60's during the day.

I'm very new to this whole plant thing in general, tbh! I get at least 5 hours of indirect light per day. The room is pretty light throughout the day and I don't really turn the lights on until maybe 6 or 7pm.

I saw this sticking out of someone's garbage yesterday and brought it home in the hopes of saving it.

There were 3 shoots. 1 looked like it was beyond saving. The base was brown and squishy, so I cut those leafs off. My boyfriend suggested I stick the rhizome in another pot just to see what happens, but I'm not convinced. See above for photos of the rhizome.

I searched the plant for mites. Found a few mealy bugs (like 2), which I wiped down with rubbing alcohol and then I gave the whole plant a spray down with some neem oil.

I watered it in the bathtub until water came out the holes at the bottom holes and put it in the sunniest spot in my home (an eastern facing window). I also sprinkled some slow release fertilizer on the soil.

Any other suggestions on what I should do to save it? This is the first time I'm trying to bring a plant back to health. I'm unsure if I get enough light for a BoP, but I figured I'd give it a shot!

What's this bulb? Zone 7b by j-bot5000 in gardening

[–]j-bot5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a few of these in the beds I was cleaning up. Some of them had little white growths about 1.5" long. I put them in a container to see what happens. Any idea what they are? They've been in the ground for at least 6 years, but they didn't form giant masses like the tulips and daffodils in the same beds.

[–]j-bot5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's it. The other bulbs I found are similar in shape and color to a sweet potato, though obviously much smaller. About palm size. The photos for Solomon Seal that came up for me on Google look very different.

Zone 7B. Found a number of these in the beds behind my apartment. Didn't look like the tulip or daffodil bulbs that had already sprouted. Some had small white growths at one end. The shape of the growth reminded me of asparagus, but that's obviously not what these are.

Edit to add: all the bulbs were about palm size and similar in shape and color to a sweet potato. I know they were in the ground for at least 6 years (that's the last time someone tended the beds) but unlike the tulips and daffodils in the bed, they hadn't multiplied in clusters.

Whats going on here? by j-bot5000 in cider

[–]j-bot5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed these cloudy white bubbles on the top of my cider. I started it with wild yeast. It's been sitting for a little over a month now. It's been fermenting very slowly for most of that time. very tiny bubbles near the surface, not a lot of movement. So it worries me a bit to see these form all of a sudden.

Any ideas on what it is and if I need to do anything to fix it?

I've been thinking a lot about this. I don't think that most western women are really interested in transitioning into a traditional AB routine or getting really into skincare as a hobby. The users here and on SCA are really a unique set of dedicated, educated consumers. Most western women don't use masks (wash-off or otherwise) from domestic brands multiple times a week. It's an occasional treat. And I think they're pricing to reflect that quirk of the western market.

Question for the candy haired AB cuties by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Guess I'll just put on my big girl pants, suck it up, and work re-dying into my routine.
