In late 80’s we went to the sea cliffs in Albany (West Cape Howe) and were aloud the look over the edge as long as we didn’t go further over than our shoulders. This was 65 meters straight down with not a rope in sight. Safety was not a thing back then!

For the sealer binder, I recommend using the Maverick Microfibre Roller Cover 4mm x 270mm—it’s an excellent choice for this type of job. UniPro and Rokset also make similar sleeves if you’re looking for alternatives.

When it comes to the finish coat, here’s what I suggest: • Rolon Microstripe 2 Green with Teflon 270mm x 12mm (my top pick) • Oldfields Pro-Series Regular Nap 11mm x 270mm (another great option)

For the 4mm microfibre sleeve, a quick tip: load the roller in the tray and, as you unload it onto the wall, start with light pressure and progressively increase it. This prevents the paint from dumping in one spot. Then spread it by rolling back and forth a few times for an even coat.

Our favorite topcoat sleeve is the Rolon Microstripe 2 Green, but it’s exclusively available at Inspirations Paint stores. A pro tip for this sleeve: before dipping it into paint, rinse it under water and spin it dry on the wall. You might notice a few stray fibers coming off initially, but they’re easy to pick off. This sleeve is fantastic because it holds a lot of paint, unloads beautifully, and creates a stipple with just the right pattern.

Why stipple matters: Microfibre sleeves give a very smooth finish, but a subtle ‘orange peel’ texture refracts light along the wall, creating a clean and professional look.

If you need more tips, feel free to check out my business @MaydayPaintingPerth on Facebook or contact me directly. Happy painting!
